- press a button something awesome happens

That's a quote right? I remember a PR manager of Bioware saying that in an interview, when DA2 was released.

Back to topic.

DA:O 9,5

Pretty much almost perfect RPG, Freedom of choice, tactical combat, non-combat skills. etc etc. Art design was terrible and one of the few things keeping me from saying it was perfect. (3 Playthroughs)

DA2 6.0

I enjoyed it, made 2 playthoughs in a row, however it is an insult to DA:O

DA:I 7.8

It is good. Enjoyed the main quest a lot excluding the boring end. Beautiful Art Design. But regarding RPG elements, it's just the little brother of DA:O . Bioware was overambitious and in the end DA:I isn't the game it could be. I don't know if i'll ever finish my 2nd playthrough.

After all. i would say each DA is unique in its way.

Been a console gamer since I was little so I've played the PC version with a controller (yes, yes console peasant and all that, blah blah blah). So I never had to deal with the tedious mouse/keyboard controls.

I'd rate it an 8.5/10, because, really.... Bugs and glitches don't bother me that much since they can be fixed and I'll be playing more than just 1 playthrough anyway. However, I still felt like the ending was rushed and that there was no sense of danger and that... well.... Inquisition is just too big for a DA story. Some areas I've not even explored and they're hardly required for the final bossfight. And King Alistair has a massive stick up his butt when you ally the mages, boooo.

DA:I is lucky, though, since I still consider it my GOTY, especially since this year's competition c**ked it up, hard.

Origins - 9.5. One of my favourite RPGs of all time.
DA2 - 6. Can't think of much I like about it. Gets the points it does simply for being the type of game that it is.
Inquisition - 7.5. An improvement over 2, but in the end too much was simplified, and there is is too much filler.

DA:O 5/10

- Terrible Combat.

- Generic Cliche Story.

- Bad Graphics.

- Bugs, Balance issues.

Only thing DA:O had going for it was that epic feeling in some moments along with a few characters.

DA 2 4/10

- Terrible Story, Terrible Characters, Terrible Companions.

- Moronic PC.

- Terrible Graphics.

- Bugs, Balance Issues.

- Repetitive locales.

Only thing it did a bit better then Origins was the combat.

DA:I 8.5/10

- Solid PC writing and voice acting.

- Interesting story with religion playing a heavy role in all of it.

- Solid import outcomes.

- Better combat and balance then in previous games, though still has massive issues.

- World Design.

- Graphics, despite huge clipping and hair issues.

It could be argued that both DA:O and DA:I have the same story: Big bad evil rises and you defeat it, but DA:I does it far better then DA:O in terms of execution.

6/10

I like the engine and the graphics. I also like the world size and the lore. The voice acting was also very good.

The companions were a mixed bag. Some, like Cole, were excellent. Some, like Dorian or Vivienne, were very one dimensional.

The story was OK, but a bit clichéd and rather dull. It went well until Skyhold and went downhill from there.

The poor PC controls, poor UI and lack of tactics were the worst parts though.

There seems to have been rather a lot of inexplicable decisions. For example, why remove crafting after the final mission?

Mean scores so far:

DA:O - 8.9

DA:2 - 6.3

DA:I - 7.6

NOTES: I reduced the one guy's score from 100/10 to 10/10

The guy who rated PC an 8 and console a 9, I just averaged the 2

The guy who rated it somewhere between 8.5-9, I just took 8.75

Seriously?... Is this yet another bug? Cause I get this too!

I get the feeling, just a hunch, that there is actually a lot in this game that is not working as was intended, people just aren't realising it.

I am often playing the game and I find myself thinking 'hmm, that is a weird decision, is it supposed to be like that?'

DA:O 9/10

- Slightly slow, but interesting and tactical combat.

- Fairly generic 'save the world story", but very well implemented with each of the sub-zones containing their own fully contained story arcs.

- Interesting characters with excellent depth and voice acting.

- Choices which made substantive changes to events within the game.

- No artificial restrictions on gear beyond the strength needed to use it, which actually makes sense.

- Excellent UI and toolbars

- Modding accessability

DA 2 6/10

- The story was ok, and the mage/templar buildup was neat.

- Blood mage...blood mages everywhere. Ugh.

- The graphics were a joke.

- The same ****** maps over and over...and over...and over.

- Relatively boring button mash combat.

- Wave combat and enemies falling from the sky.

- But the companions were solid and well voiced.

DA:I 5/10

- Same 'save the world' trope, but boring and badly done

- No real build up to the finale

- Too many deus ex machina moments just to drag the plot along from one forgettable mini-boss to another.

- Many of the DA:Keep choices don't seem to have any effect on anything (Oghren anyone?)

- Shitty repetetive combat that was a terrible mix of DA2 button mashing with the pacing of DAO.

- Endless respawns of meaningless goons infesting maps which kills any sense of exploration or actual progress until the zone is completely cleared.

- Bad side questing designs which give me flashbacks to MMO grinding.

- Really well done characters, with fantastic voice acting.

- Pretty world and interesting environments.

- Very nice graphics

- Terrible UI, PC controls are bad

- Only one choice which actually seems to have any effect on the game (whether the mages or templars are chosen to work with the inquisition)

This is ignoring any bugs and technical problems each game has or had.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but at this point I genuinely wouldn't rate DA:I any better than DA:2. Maybe a well-meant 6.5.

DA:O = 10/10. Mabari Companion

DA2 = 5/10. Mabari Pet

DA:I = 0/10 No Mabari.

Seriously though? It's pretty good. I find the combat more enjoyable than I did in DA:O (had to mod that speed up just to make it bearable), and the combat shines the most (arguably, so far) in multiplayer which is a fine but buggy addition to the series. Tactical Camera fels clunky and useless in comparison to DA:O. Inquisition's story, from what I have done up to this point, is good...barring a few incidents. The Keep is a nice addition and helps encourage additional playthroughs. Mounts feel useless, but that might be because I just Bull Charge wherever I need to go. I get tired of the open-world feeling on occasion. Companions are good as was expected, though I feel some characters have better writing (and soe have clearly superior VAing, IMHO) or more dedication to them than others.

Not done with the campaign yet, I'll be back later. But for now?

DA:O = 8.2/10

DA2 = did not play

DA:I = 8.2/10

Fairly equal, but I'd arguably put DA:I higher up as I'm more of a combat focused player

DA:O  9.5/10

Da2: 6/10

DA:I 8/10

Story is what basically held back DA:I for me.

I play primarly for story and the characters, and DAI was severly lacking i. that department so:

DAO: 9.5
DA2: 7
DAI: 3

DA:O was a 10/10 for me, no game is perfect so 10/10 means it is one of the very best games I have played.

DA2 7/10

Inquisition 8/10 Some flaws bring it down, the combat, shortish main story, lack of meaningful side quests (like a couple of big ones would have been nice, the ending, some general sloppyness.

8/10.

I thought the story was pretty solid, and the gameplay wasn't all that bad either.  Mana and stamina regenerated pretty quickly, cooldowns were pretty short, all things considered, and the eight ability limit wasn't all that bad.  And I really enjoyed the semi-open world exploration, even when it came to the Hissing Sands (I know some people found that area extremely annoying, which is something I totally get).

I think the only major detractor for me were the number of bugs in the game, some which actually forced me to reload or defer to an earlier save to fix (I'm looking at you "Judgment" glitch)...and perhaps the Exalted Plains.  I liked the forested areas, but once you got out into the actual plains...yeesh, it's ugly!.  What a blasted wasteland, and you could barely find anything using the search function there.  Now that was a pain to play through.  Absolutely loved exploring The Emerald Graves and The Arbor Wilds (and the Temple of Mythal, yeeeeee!  :D ).

Advice to Bioware for the next game?  Swimming mechanics and perhaps let us choose what color the search aura will be.  In dark places like the Hissing Wastes and the Emerald Graves, the yellow aura works very well.  I didn't even have much trouble in the Hinterlands.  The Exalted Plains and the Western Appproach, however, gave me difficulties.  Perhaps also indicate the direction a possible item is in.  Searching for a phantom ping gets annoying after a while.

For Inquisition itself.  For the love of Mythal, get to patching the glitches.  I know some of the issues I had have to do with me playing the game on my old, tired PS3, but some of them were near game-breaking.  Some of them you could probably keep, though, if you have to choose your fixes.  I got one glitch where Josephine kept sinking lower and lower in her seat when she was talking with Leliana, during her personal quest.  It was hilarious.

Completed this game yesterday and I absolutely LOVED it! So many people criticize the previous games (mainly DA2) but I love all three games. People have said such nasty, disgusting things about the creators and the games but they selfishly forget that BioWare have to cater for ALL of us. We are all different and we all like different things so we have to deal with the things we may not approve or typically like, but this game isn't made for just you it's made for us all, things you may not like, others will.

But what I am really not looking forward to is waiting for Dragon Age 4. Hopefully there will be a 4th but how many years would we have to wait for it? Also when are the DLC's coming out? I hope they have made some and I'm really looking forward to purchasing them. I waited a year for this game and waiting 3, 4 or 5 years more for the next one I'm really not looking forward to waiting so long :crying:. But oh well there's not much we can do about that sadly. *Sigh*.

But yeah I rate this (and DA 1 & 2) all high marks, I just love them! . DA: O = 10 / 10, DA 2 = 9 / 10 & DA: I = 9 / 10 (only because I have 1 bugged quest on it. If that fixes it will go back to 10 / 10  :D)

Anyone else have similar or other opinions?

For me DAO = 9/10, DA2 = 7/10, DAI = 8/10

I would be more interested in a Jade Empire 2 than DA4 at this point of time though, I reckon both ME and DA franchises need a break, JE hasn't been touched for years.

I'd give Origins a 10, DA2 a 6.5, and Inquisition an 8.5.

Here's one of my biggest reasons why I rated it lower than I would have liked:

I rushed my second playthrough to see what the differences would be, hardly did any of the personal quests (save Solas' and Dorian's), and really... nothing really mattered. No real consequences, which I guess ties in with my biggest gripe about Inquisition: a lot of the game lacks a certain degree of depth for me that in other BioWare games (like Origins and Mass Effect) made me care enough to go through missions that weren't obligatory.

Solid 7.

Had the PC controls not been utter dog sh*t I would give it an 8.

And if they bothered to fill the blatant development holes abounding throughout the game I would have given it a 9.

And if multi-player wasn't... just... awful... I would have given it a 10.

DAO : 9.8 /10

DA2 : 8.0/10

DAI : 8.8/10

If I compare DAO to DAI. Make it seem like Inquisition is a bad game. It is not. It has some very strong side. The crafting (Albeit the lack of different model, but Origin had the same problem) and the graphics/immersion because of little notch like able to climb ladder or water/snow effect. Seamless transition (cavern etc) and dragon fighting  the best I have ever played.

But there's bad thing. The big of roleplaying opportunities the game offer to us. How I view roleplaying might differ from yours though. In Origin you could steal, persuade, intimidate and  had various action you could perform based of your statistic like dexterity or even magery.

You also had  more abilities and by the end of Awakening I  had over 30 abilities sitting on my only  UI bar. The UI was a lot better in Origin. Especially true on pc. You could also mod the game much more easier. We all know why.

The story was better In Origin. Loghain betrayal. The politic was more poigant in Origin and the character you meet were more intriguing. It's was the Warden against impossible odds. You never felt like some kinds of god emissary. You were not ''lucky'' to be there. You were actually a potential Grey Warden candidate for Duncan because you had  combat skills. It also made much more sense. So the story felt much more grounded because of thing like this. I never was much attached to the Inquisitor.

Sten sitting inside his cage ,Morrigan ,Flemeth and even Oghren following you to search for Branka inside the deep road. The companion had all very strong reason to follow you and they all made sense. Also how you meet them. In inquisition is - Go there and collect this guy. He want to join the inquisition ! They are no more important than any other agent in the game.

Boss fight outside of Dragon fight were better. Nothing come close in DAO to  the Broodmother you meet in the deph of the deep road. Also well fatality. Which they completely removed outside of a few cutscene one.

They removed a lot of the RP'ING thing I loved about BioWare game for a more mainstream experience. I think it a mistake they are making. Good thing we have kickstarter.

When it was good, it's was deliciously wonderful. When it's not, it almost feels like a grind.

8.5-9/10

Bioware has shown they can make good game, but not the great ones like ME2 or Origins. To me at least, they're forgiven for the travesty that was DA2, who's only good thing they did create was varric to be DA's version of Garrus (hopefully)

Best game I've played in a very long time. I finished it and I'm playing through it again. I have a bunch of other games on my computer I haven't played yet so that's saying a lot.

Looking forward to DLC content and it's sad I have to wait a couple years for the next Dragon Age game. The world really is one of the best fantasy worlds out there.

Bioware has made a masterpiece!
