Siding with Failona and the Mage Rebellion is no where near as good as the Templar path. In the words of a wise yet temperamental woman - Deal. With. It.

Lyrium is an adverse drug. It's the truth whether you want to face it or not. And what does "save them" mean to you because as long as they take lyrium, they become lyrium addled.

Plenty of the Templars stop taking lyrium if Cullen, does, so... If they choose to sacrifice themselves to protect Thedas from abominations, that's their choice. They don't need me to "save them."

I took this screen last night. I have never growled at the screen so hard since I was dealing with Petrice in DA2.

That the mages who remain with Fiona are specifically those who not only wish to fight a war but also the ones who have no issues aligning with Tevinter. Those who did went with Vivienne. Meaning, we're not accusing an entire population based on the actions of a few (like you implied). The exception being any children.

Um, no. That's quite emphatically a lie.

That'd be like saying all the Templars at Therinfal went there because they want to "purge the mages" as Lucius announced.

Apart from Fiona and Connor, we can speak with three other mages in Redcliff. Out of those three, only one did not join the Venatori.

If you ally with the Templars, Dorian has a banter with Iron Bull saying that all those who didn't agree, and failed to escape, were killed by the Venatori.

As far as we know, maybe she tried to gain favor in the eyes of Corypheus by undermining Alexius and he shoved her in there. There are any number of reasons why she was imprisoned.

Considering she was more afraid of Corypheus than Alexius, and urged the Inquisitor to stop him, I think not.

Well, the level of stupid I saw in DAI on behalf of Fiona was appalling.

This. I'm pretty sure that the whole point of a Magi Inquisitor siding with the Templars is to liberate the mages from Alexius' and Fiona's yoke. JB is old Xilizhra's (hope I'm not speaking too soon) level of zealous. Please be more objective folks.

I like Calpernia better as a bad guy. Reminds me of Loghain a bit. Samson just reminds me of a drug addict who joins the drug cartel for a minor fix. I would probably not hesitate to simply kill Samson and not bother judging him. Calpernia seems more human if you do the quest line.

I am dealing with it. By bringing the mage rebellion to victory. Fiona screwed up, but I'd take a mage screwup over any templar any day. More importantly, I believe in the cause.

Not enough.

Who indentures their people to extremists (albeit without investigation) to escape oppression?

You're trading one form of slavery for another and making all the blood spilled pointless.

If it were a deal with the Magisterium then I'd might reserve judgement and that heavily depends on the stipulations (military service, years of servitude, ect)

Alexius did lie rather a lot about his allegiances and terms of service, note.

The banter you posted works in my favor. According to it, the mages who remain alive in Redcliff are thus either willing to serve Tevinter or just too scared to run.

Which is understandable; as least in regards to the second group; but not praiseworthy.

So, what you mean is that we really don't know why Fiona was imprisoned. It could have been for any reason, not necessarily an heroic or selfless one.

I picked the mages because I liked the time travel plot.  For me, it's about story, not which side I favor more.

Screwed up? What Fiona did is the DA equivalent of Castro selling out to the USSR after the Cuban Revolution. It was a betrayal.

I won't defend Fiona overmuch on this point. I just don't care, because the rebellion is about much more than one woman, and it isn't as though siding with the templars or conscripting the mages helps anyone who already got screwed by Fiona once.

The rebellion will still get conscripted/slaughtered by Corypheus. It's no better than reforming the templars.
