I don't really get how I can get Renegade points while sticking to Paragon dialogue. Didn't do anything that merits them.
Examples so far:
 
+5 Renegade (and +7 Paragon) right after finishing Mordin's quest.

+5 Renegade during Garrus' mission before heading to the basement (?!)

+5 Renegade for helping Liara with her terminal hacks (ok, this one might be somewhat justified... even though at the end, when you tell her to kill somebody, you don't get Renegade)

+5 Renegade (and +11 Paragon) after the Collector ship mission debrief

+5 Renegade (and +5 Paragon) - after an N7 mission (I think it was the one about stopping the "distress" beacon) I talked to Kelly and invited her to dinner... and got them right after

+5 Renegade (and +22 Paragon) after the mission inside the derelict Reaper


Now, I'm not complaining - at all, but it sort of makes me feel like I've missed something in these quests.

Is getting "some" Renegade points so bad then?

When I deliberately choose that, no. But as I said, it makes me think that I've missed a part of the quest (maybe not saved somebody... I don't know).

I just finished the Garrus quest again, and didn't get those Renegade points.

Really If you choice dialogue on the top right your gonna get paragon, if you chose stuff on the bottom right you get renegade even if its not the red or blue choices.
