Upon spending a good amount of time reading the codex entries, Humans and the Alliance are almost always excluded from mention when discussing the composition of council races or roles withing the council etc, instead calling Humans an associate race.  Have I misunderstood ME1s endgame events and the and their implications in ME2, or is this simply a lack of attention given in writing codex entries?

If you start with a default character, Udina is the Councillor. If you start with an imported save, you can actually choose whom you sent. I think the Council screws you either way.

Ok, so we ARE on the council. reading the ME2 codex entries on the council was indicating that we still had not been granted more than an associate position like the Volus or Elcor- It seems like perhaps these entries are just copied from ME1 and weren't bothered to be updated with the developments that came with the conclusion of the first game.

The Council screws you over all the time anyway.

Fixed for you :P

Curious how my Renegade will play out, with the original council dead and Anderson being Chairman.

^ That's the default, except Udina is Councillor. If the council is dead, you get screwed. With Paragon I think they're at least "thankful", but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, will do soon. It looks like BioWare hates politicians - ok, you can say that everyone does, but can they not have at least one guy who is actually reasonable?.. The Illusive Man would make a great one, except that he's not.

Playing paragon (more paragade but whatever) right now. they ARE thankful, but refuse to co-operate with you, due to your affiliation with a terrorist organization. They don't tell you to GTFO or anything, they just ask you to stick to the Terminus Systems to keep the Citadel out of Terminus business

They also reinstate your spectre status as a sign of goodwill.

I thought they said they'd only do that after you ended your affiliation with CErberus

My first playthrough I was reinstated as a Spectre but still affiliated with Cerberus. It was merely a title it meant nothing.

Spectre status is only useful two places I've noticed.

Indeedie. The Human council are no better, not even bothering to show there faces. At least the original council had the balls go to "Yes, 'Reapers' [sacarsm]" to your face.

Regardless of what combination of council options your shepard deals with, you're bludgeoned many times over the head until you realize "YOU'RE NOT GETTING HELP THERE!" :D Good or bad, they're a non issue in ME2... and will probably be nothing but a Thorn in your side in ME3, after you tell them to stick it while you rally the galaxy races yourself.

Actually, whether you import a game or not, you can actually "change" your choice of who was put in the council seat. Ive tested this on both my Paragon and Renegade characters. My paragon had Anderson and my Renegade had Udina (to which I actually regretted) So, out of curiosity, on my Renegade character, I wanted to see what would happen if I "chose" Anderson as my choice when Miranda was quizzing me and sure enough: "Yes, Captain Anderson is now Councilor Anderson..." and to make sure, I even reloaded the same character and chose Udina to which I got: "Yes, Ambassador Udina is now Councilor Udina..."

So, whether you import a character or not, this is the ONLY choice from the first game that you can "change" if you want to lol.

I enjoyed the couple of points where my Spectre status was mentioned. And whether it works in the game or not, I enjoyed it as an RP aspect of my character.

Except for the delightfully rude Turian councilman.  I perversely love that guy I know he is going to say something completely classless every time it is his turn to speak.  Obviously rudeness goes along way in Turian politics.

But yeah I thought the council was at least civil to me.  But Bioware always has its Anarcho-Libertarian anti-big business anti-government thing going.  I think it is just a set up, they are trying to get you to turn on the council and the Alliance but ultimately that will be the best way to go in the end.

It does you no good in the Terminus systems after all.

I figure it is better to be a Spectre than not be one and might be useful in ME3.
