I (pre)bought the game through Impulse. Maybe somebody at EA needs a lesson in geography, history or political science, because when I go to the EA store it sends me to the Spain page and quotes my prices in Euros. We happen to be American citizens (the means United States for anyone feeling that the American continents have dozens of countries), living in America hundreds of miles from the northern coast of South America. We use US Dollars as currency and our retailers (except for the local ones) are US based chain stores that release things (*gasp*) at the same time they do in the rest of their US stores.
And yes, we tend to get a bit touchy about things like this because it smacks of discrimination.

You can add CT to that list and Im in an EA live chat now. He said he suggest I re-download the game.... I spent about nine hours downloading it and that sounds like the biggest cop out answer ive ever heard
Who did you purchase from, directly EA? Reason I ask is because I actually DO recall hearing somewhere that EA made some changes overnight and Steam did as well, so that may actually be a viable option if you purchased directly from EA. Myself I purchased from D2D, and I dont think there's anything different about re-downloading from there, although I'm not adverse to trying it if it will shut me the hell up already lol

You know what the harsh reality is? If any of these guys/gals were in fact working for Bioware, then their IIS/Apache logs would automatically be showing them our WAN addresses....they need it for Security purposes/Terror Threats/the list goes on.....So, from THEIR perspective, they see our WAN addresses right underneath our profile names.

If we get a list of affected IP blocks then someone can send a summary in a helpful email to an authority. If you dont want to participate then dont.

well i started downloading the game from ea last night and finished it just about an hour ago with a few lapses in between, im just hesitant to go through downloading again because so many people are having the same problem I would hate to find a solution in an hour and then be stuck dl'ing again
I can certainly sympathize with THAT. In your position I wouldn't want to either. Heck it only took me 1.75 hours to download, and *I* am reluctant to try that all over again simply because I dont like wasting my time on fruitless efforts.

actually theres a easy way to get IP blocks and be relatively obscure. just xxx out the last section. Example: 154.23.42.xxx

Ah ok now I see, so you're putting yourself in the good samaitan role, you dont actually work for Bioware/EA. That's what I thought. But it seems that Bioware isn't paying attention to this aspect of their TECH SUPPORT board, I doubt highly a email with such limited scope and without a REAL LIVE voice on the phone screaming at them will do the trick.

well i have a little problem regarding this as i cannot even install my game as they did not give me a cd key or any other pre order bonus codes. i am in the UK and my launch is 29th 00.01 AM
I woulod like to know if this is the case with anyone else? or do they give you the codes on the day of the launch?
Cause honestly if i cannot get my keys codes etc and play the game, what was the point in me ordering a legit copy and still unable to install it when the game has already been pirated like a week before

That much I can answer, they don't provide the codes until the day of launch. And go back and re-read the rest of this thread, even if they did, you most likely would be in the same boat as us anyway and HAVE to wait until the 29th anyway *sigh*

No one should give that info to anybody. They can get it for themselves if they need to.
What we can do though, is try to corner the problem.
We know it doesn't happen with DVD releases.
We know it does happen with electronic downloads from EA, Gamestop, Impulse, D2D and maybe others.
What I'd like to know, out of curiosity, is if anybody who bought the game through electronic download managed to get the game working without a VPN or a crack.
And if the solution is to simply re-download the game for those still affected by the problem... why the heck doesn't Bioware post something about it here on their forum???
I don't know why the VPN worked, I don't know much about this stuff.
I think it has to do with the server not seeing us as being in North-America, hence freezing the play until the 29th.
There maybe something wrong with the IP block list of the date check server... but that theory would be valid only if some 'download' users could get their game to work... If no one can, that I don't know why the VPN works...

Keep in mind that this applies *if and only if* the product page specifically entails gameplay access by the 26th for your region - remember to allow for time differential, if any.
Addendum:
I forgot to mention the following - and I apologize in advance if this has already been mentioned. (Twelve pages is a lot to go through.)
Has anyone tried configuring their system region / locale? Remember, there are settings for language AND location. You must change the settings for the location (which requires a restart), not just the language, for some applications to work.
An example of the above situation is installing some Japanese games, where merely changing the language and keyboard preferences still won't enable an installation. The region has to be set to Japan as well.
Also, would using a European proxy work for those who ended up with the EU download?
Good luck!
