ok well ive finished re-downloading my copy from ea. It went much faster this time and although I had the tech support guy's word that re-downloading would solve the problem since he changed something in my account I was still unable to get it to work with the same release date check problem

I had to redowload as well as i realised that one of the rar files got corrupted. I can confirm that it went much faster as well.

You may want to check Michael's post about the release time/date.

Well Im in north america so my game should have been unlocked and the reson it went so slow the first time was actually on my end so i wont complain about the nine hours it took me to dl it the first time haha

I'm actually doing a play-by-play of this launch date fiasco on my twitter account, @Xee_Thot and with "Mass Effect 2" being a trending topic I'm pretty sure a bunch of people are seein this.

Tried without firewalls -- same failure at release date check.

NA version via D2D -- Enhanced Edition -- activates fine (needed to install.) DLs all installed fine.

Note -- we are well past all dates cited in M. Gamble's post.

Note 2 -- Win7/64 comp (runs ME1 well).

Guys - give biermania a break. Being an ex-IT / Datacomm network engineer, I can say been there - done that (on a smaller national scale not global).

I've looked up / tracked his info and he definitely is within EA. (Hell - I've probably passed him on the freeway at one time or another ....). The guy probably has been up for the last 30+ hrs. on this and the way projects like this are rolled out - he's probably the one with the best understanding of how it's all supposed to work ... and he's the one that has to wrap his head around what's happening. That's what happens when you have project leads, they're the ones with the understanding, not everyone else on the team has that overall, in depth view. The other way to do it is by committee but that takes a lot of people and time .... and drives up the cost, not something you want for a $60 game.

Don't get me wrong - I want to play this thing and would love to see those of us that have been inconvenienced (I know that some of you took the day off) get a discount or bonus but it is in the scheme of things (life, Haiti, H1N1, cancer, etc), it's just a game - you'll live.

(going to get my fire retardant suit now ...)

Well, you see, you're not the only one with IT experience and we certainly understand what's able to be and not able to be done.....the arguments here arent indicative of angst because they are failing to do anything in a timely fashion, they are more because (up til a little while ago) no one was even acknowledging that anything was wrong much less looking in on the forum and saying "Hey, ok, give me time to look at it...."

Had the latter happened, it would have alleviated to a larger degree some of the negative posts

those are the dates which are build into the release control mechanism. if your online vendor is telling you another date, they are not correct and havent passed on the information correctly.

we are also seeing issues with FIREWALLS. can you try turning your hwardware and windows firewall completely off for when you try to authenticate (then you can turn them back on).

What we have seen is that the authentication token which is being sent to the customer is getting filtered out in certain areas via the firewall

That list doesn't any of the south American countries except for Brazil (Peru, Argentina, Chile, etc...)
Do you know when will it unlock for us latin american users? I'm still downloading the game from GamersGate but from that list I'm getting that I won't be able to activate the game at all.

Okay, so. I didn't read the whole thread so I may have missed a post about this, but meh.

Did anyone who ordered the Digital Deluxe from EA get a mail saying it was ready to download and said it was supposed to have all the item codes and the Cerberus code in it? I got that mail but the only code that was in it was the game key D:

Do we get all the other keys in another email at some point?

Q, I dont know if you've been lurking the forum, or are having the same problem, or what your story is, however, also think about this..... Bioware=no response, D2D=no response, EA=no response, Me(and a lot of others)=out $60 beans..... put all these things together and they are a very flammable situation.

I just got mine working. I use a router, and I had already forwarded all the ports found in the readme to no avail. So I connected my PC directly to the modem, and it worked.

I'd like to reiterate that I already have all ports found in the Readme forwarded, so is it possible this release date check uses a port not listed there?

Anyways, thought I'd post my success in case someone is in a similar situation and it could work for them as well.

Otherwise, good luck.

(P.S: D2D Digital Deluxe edition)

Ok Michael... now putting some clarity on this... what we know is that in some small cases (assuming you are correct)... firewall aspects have been the issue.  However, the when we have tested on this end (user side), firewall really does not come into play (since it was disabled).  Logically, this leaves the one outstanding and glaring issue... vendors like GameStop and others delivered games (via their digital partners) that were not set for the correct region.  Why and how this occurred is not clear since obviously some people are able to get their game working... while some are not.  Soooo - my point is this, do you think that by waiting to 1/29 --- given all things are unequal --- that those of us suffering from this Release Data Check failure will get a passing grade --- and be allowed to play??

I tried my digital download company... they pawned the issue over to EA.  I spent 30min trying to get a live CHAT and it just reset and closed down after 30min (extremely annoying).

I work for a Fortune 100 company as a SQL DBA... so I have some technical expertise, so please, rather than say what you don't know... let us in on what you (BioWare/EA/Support/whoever) are planning on doing.  Give us some info on what we should expect... give us some hope.

Best stuff yet... I will have to try this out when I get out of the office.  I have a modem that I use on my laptop... I will just hook it up to my home PC and see if I can get my RDC to run successfully.  Thanks VehX for the hope!!

BTW - I heading home now... will try this out first thing and post my results... whether success or failure.  At least we can get some feedback from our testing.

For those that got the product through D2D etc. please try:

1) Open a command prompt

2) Go to ME 2 directory

3) Go to software subdirectory

4) Type the following command:

EAAccessInstaller.exe /s/dir "C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect 2\\binaries"

(With the appropriate path to the ME2 binary directory).

This directly runs the game avoiding potential configuration errors.

Release control check will still happen
