This directly runs the game avoiding potential configuration errors.

Release control check will still happen

Will it pass? (the release control check that is)

As far as i know that's just like starting the game from the EA Dowload Manager.

Yes. As Biermania said, you'll still have to pass the check.

That will only appear in the install directory (where you put the files after extraction), is it supposed to reside elsewhere on your system?

For that to work, i think you'll have to position yourself on the EADM directory and try to run the command from there, which in other words is the same as starting the game from inside the EADM.

I got the CE Digital version from the EA Store it NEVER MENTIONED THE RELEASE DATE WAS DIFFERENT TO THE U.S.???????? I live in the U.K. by the way and what is the bloody point of having a digital download for a game if you can't use it at the same time as the US????

Sorry, that is not clear, that is the date you can start the download and installation and not the unlock date/time

Actually purchase date is 25/09/2009...

[edit]

On Dragon Age: Origins it has the date I could play and would be red as long as the time wasn't right

I feel your pain, honestly I do, but can we not veer off topic for the time being.

When something is supposed to be working and is not is one thing.

Questioning Corporate policy is another thing, if it wouldn't be too much to ask, can you relegate that complain to another thread please so we can focus on the issue at hand? Thanks! :)

For those that got the product through D2D etc. please try:

1) Open a command prompt
2) Go to ME 2 directory
3) Go to software subdirectory
4) Type the following command:

EAAccessInstaller.exe /s/dir "C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Electronic Arts\\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\binaries"

(With the appropriate path to the ME2 binary directory).

Ran the program. Got a User Account Control prompt on Vista x64 and authorized it. Nothing else happened visually. In the background (as per Task Manager) it ran EAAccessInstaller.exe and EAAirComponents-installer.exe

Proceeded to run the game (Digital Deluxe Edition) from the MassEffect2Launcher.exe and still got the Release Date check failure

IP is 65.23.245.*** located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is not on the list published at http://social.biowar...06/index/800043 so, since the game is for sale in stores here I am assuming that we had the US release date, being part of the US.

(On an interesting and maybe useful side note: EA Store sends my buy requests to the Spain website storefront and wants to charge me in Euros even though Puerto Rico is US and we use Dollars, which is why I bought from Impulse.)

This is not purchase date unless you purchased after the first time you could download.

Different time unlocks is just like movies that release on different days in different countries.

Biermania, if you don't mind can we NOT get off-topic here please? If you work for EA as you claim, then lets get the issue of those who RIGHT DAMN NOW SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY cannot, instead of deliberating over and discussing/informing on what variants in regional releases mean.

Those of us who are now beginning to seriously SERIOUSLY doubt the efficacy of EA's ability to deliver anything at ALL in a timely error free fashion are beginning to accumulate, so lets get with it shall we?

Well, anyways... the problem i see here is that EA didn't mention anything about a lauching date while trying to sell the product.

I do remember something said about a 1 day delay on the Steam and D2D websites which made me choose EA for my order as there was nothing about that there.
