While some ppl from the US are not able to unlock their copies bought at the EA store today, I've read several reports from German customers who actually were able to, although they should not be. Please just unlock the game generally regardless of time zone / country. Only thing that makes sense now.

I'm brazilian but I bought the game from gametap and dont have a single memory of different release dates warnings. Theres nothing of that kind in the e-mails I received either. The info advertised was: pre-order = play the game on 01/26/2010. If that fails, the whole point of pre-ordering also fails and thats very serious. That's lack of respect for the customer.

I wouldn't be so annoyed if the site I bought it from (EA Store, hurr durr) had TOLD ME something like "Hey, listen, you're from Brazil so you'll only be able to play at 01/29, ok?" Ok. But no. The release date was 01/26. And here I am, complaining on foruns knowing that it won't change a thing

Ok - I'm pretty pissed if this stuff goes to the point II've got to wait 'till 29. Next game I download from Bioware will be ending in .torrent! What the hell is the problem in opening validation immediately after the release date. It even takes more weight off the whole server system to have people slowly pouring in....

I am with you I can also live with the fact that if they told me hey you live in europe so the date you can play is the 28/29th but the mail i got that from the ea-store (swiss something something) states nothing of that kind nor did the ea-store they all say januari 25/26th guess i'll have to wait about 4 hours (when 10 am PST hits) and see if i can play it then or i have to wait till freaking thursday or even friday coz that is when the european release is supposed to be happening. I already received all the codes and such aswell.

This pisses me off so badly.. we paid, we preordered, and yet in worst cases (retailers in EU countries) have to wait ANOTHER BUSINESS WEEK from 29th..

Yes. Not be able to do anything about it is the worst part. If this had happened here I could at least take confort in the fact that I would probably take this to litigation and get some satisfaction for this disrespectful and misleading service they put on, both bioware and Ea. And the retailers, of course... Saying bioware is not responsible for controling the release dates is absurd. I bought the game from one of their "suggested" stores. The suggested store says 01/26/2010, the exact date announced by bioware. EA advertises the same thing. The problem is not technical, only. It's ethical. The company has to take action, the way I see it.

I purchased through EA and scared up my unlock code by going to www.findmyorder.com and giving the pertinent info. I'm still having the release date unlock problem everyone else who got it from EA is having. I'm guessing they're waiting until 10am so they can have their support centers manning the phones when they get undulated with Mass Effect 2 problems. Why they don't put that on their website, I don't know; but it wouldn't be out of character considering their usual poor customer support.

This is happening to me as well. I'm shocked that no one thought of time zones. The whole point of pre-ordering is so you can play the game as soon as possible. It's a bit of a slap in the face to the customers, and a rather large over-site that they didn't take time zone into account. It's disappointing.

Wait till roughly 5:00 and you should be good, Friend of mine has same problem apparently they are unlocking their DIgi copies at 5 it's weird.

Wait, did I get this right? Today I walked past a store, saw ME2 in stock and thought "Sweet!". Bought it, installed it, but it doesn't work (for whatever reason. Windows 7 isn't very specific on error messages...). So I have the DVD right here in my hand, but can't play the game, because somehow nowadays you can buy a game in a store, but are not allowed to play it since a certain date? Fracking awesome...

Edit: I forgot to say I'm from Germany.

Well, I can't disqualify the possibility, that the game doesn't work for an entirely different reason, that somehow eludes me. I'm trying to fix it, but again, win7 is definately NOT supportive.

Actually I wondered how the game would recognize the right date (it's not the internal clock).

also, I believe the steam release it messed up. The standard version is set to release in 2 hours, while the Digital Deluxe is set for 6 hours.

Just a quick Update: Reinstalling, setting the internal clock to January 30th, driver updates, configuration juggling, etc. I don't know what did the trick, but now it's working. So, hard copies DO work despite their regional release date!
