Yeah fine the game now works but i'm not sure it is because of those two nice guy or simply because we are now the 28 Jan. and the release finally unlock by itself but the fact remains we bough that game in pre order to be the first to play on the 26 and we just past two f.....g day byting our keyboard waiting for an anwser or a simple note .... so I think EA and Bioware owe us some excuse and repair

those are the dates which are build into the release control mechanism. if your online vendor is telling you another date, they are not correct and havent passed on the information correctly....

That list doesn't any of the south American countries except for Brazil (Peru, Argentina, Chile, etc...)
Do you know when will it unlock for us latin american users? I'm still downloading the game from GamersGate but from that list I'm getting that I won't be able to activate the game at all.

Quoting myself because I didn't get a reply. I need somebody from Bioware to tell us the unlock dates for latin american countries because I can't pass the release date check after installing.

If your country does not appear on the list, the unlock time is Jan 29 at midnight GMT (UTC)

My country is not on the list, and my time zone is GMT (+2:00). so it will unlock on friday 2am?

So… I've this problem too (off course, I've just a "digital licence copy" from hell). BW&EA weren't cool and I was surprised by this "lock control". I bought has one month this game; I downloaded yesterday and I cannot play now. My TZ is GMT (+3: 00 Brasilia). Some news aboit it?

 Hello Everyone!!  I found a solution.
Mass Effect 2 Release Date check failure, because your windows username is not ENGLISH.
When you run the "Release Date check" , it will create some file in your Window Temp Folder.EX: C:\\Users\\<YOUR NAME>\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp (FOR WINDOWS VISTA)
The Method:

1. Run the "Release Date check" .(DON'T CLOSE)

2. Browse to the Windows Temp folder. (C:\\Users\\<YOUR NAME>\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp)
3. SELECT ALL FILES And COPY To D:\\TEMP 

4. CLOSE THE "Release Date check")

5. Run D:\\Temp\\MassEffect2_activation.exe

6. You Will PASS the Release Date check, and there became the three files in D:\\Temp.

7. DELETE ALL FILES in C:\\Users\\<YOUR NAME>\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp

8. Move All File in  D:\\Temp to C:\\Users\\<YOUR NAME>\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp

9. Run Mass Effect 2 and Play it!

If my calculations are correct when this baby hits... ops... sorry wrong sci-fi comedy... It should be 15 minutes for people in Brazil. I'll let you all know if it worked or not.

Great, the EU activation date check worked pretty much right on the minute. I took myself the liberty of getting a head start with a cracked exe (six hours into the game now), but I've been looking forward to getting my DLC content from the digital deluxe version.
