This. Is. Ridiculous.
I truly hope someone preserves this thread for posterity, particularly the posts illustrating with stark clarity how it was the PIRATES who came to the rescue of honest customers. I should have just downloaded the cracked version from the get-go and saved myself all this hassle.

Alright, I finally got it to work. Uninstalled my firewall (Comodo) and used a VPN. Don't know if/how/why that had anything to do with the authentication, but at this point I don't care. Now I can't log into the Cerberus Network...
Can you give instructions about this VPN process? I'm used the fixed exe, but would like to get rid of the release date issue...

I'm from Canada, the french part of it. I choose the french version, order in EA US store, and it won't activate. Same sh*t as everyone. Launch date isn't the good one. As far as I know, we are the 26, and it is 6h45 pm. Why it won't work !

I would like to add my voice to how lame it is. D2D pre-order, english version, I'm in Canada, and it wont let me in.

I can't believe this was not solved yet. Is Bioware at least giving us a satisfaction? Say "Im sorry", "we are incompetent", "it's EA's fault", or "we just wanted to screw our legit customers", i don't care. But at least say something! WE BOUGHT YOUR GAME! It's the least you can do for us.
Brazilian, bought game on gametap.

Canada, Digital Deluxe version from D2D. Can't play thanks to this awesome release date check. D2D already did not give us the codes until launch, so why this extra layer of fun ?
I've forwarded all the ports from the Readme file, and I've disabled my firewall, it still does not work. Based on a long list of fellow D2D customers having this issue, it seems the issue is not on my side.
I find it terribly unethical for this to be ignored when we've paid good money for not only a legit copy of the game, but the deluxe version of it no less. After all that advertising about "Pre-load the game! Be the first to play the minute it launches!", this is all the more sour.
I am fairly irritated by this. Back when I used to pirate games I rarely had issues and got far superior support (and download speeds) from the community than what I get being an honest customer. What kind of message does that send? This is also not my first time having such an issue with digital purchases.
I am contemplating the crack now. I wanted to give everyone a chance to prove me wrong but after a few hours of waiting and no update on this issue whatsoever, I'm moving on. Not sure I'll digitally purchase games anymore, emphasis on "purchase".

I would like to thank the community, who works overnight to provide us with high quality NO_DVD cracks. Btw you can redeem and download the DLC stuff from the launcher which takes you to the web site. However they won't be able to be used in game until you can validate. So far everything else works here.
I suggest Bioware looks toward these fine people of the pirate world as to how to act in the future.

I have no idea how the code behind this is screwing up... it's like one function.
Still waiting. And, BTW, I advise against using the cracked .exe, as it may cause problems later on.

Bioware is only to blame because of choosing EA as publisher. They returned with good games (after loooong nwn crap delay), JE, ME1, DA:O (oh and there was SW:KOTOR, of course), marketing deparment from EA is to blame.

GO to store, pick up box, pay for it, install and play.
It still is the only reliable way to have a game up and working on day of release.

I'm from Canada, the french part of it too.
I bought the english version of the game from EA Store (pre-order).
I pre-loaded the game yesterday morning.
I tried to play last night, seeing there were people already playing it and thinking they can't be all pirates posting on the official game board.
Didn't work.
Tried it a few minutes ago, around 20h00, still doesn't work.
Read all the posts in the thread, can't say much more than I am really mad too.
Had this happenned with D2D or Impulse only, I could maybe forgive Bioware/EA. But this **** happenning with EA Download Manager? That's pretty lame.
I thought of the cracked exe too, but I'm afraid to be locked out of my Bioware account somehow... And I want my Blood Dragon Armor dammit!
****. And then they complain there's 50% more pirated copies than legit games.

To everybody: I'm from Brazil, and was having the release date issue, even after getting a new code from EA support. Installed a VPN program (I've used FreeVPN) and then the release date check pased and I was able to start the game. While using the VPN, Cerberus failed to connect. I've shutted VPN off, restarted the game and all worked fine, even allowing me to get back my Dragon Armor from DA:O previous purchase. I'm playing now, but don't know yet if the bonus features are available, as I'm still on the start area. At least we can solve the Bioware / EA mess...

Nearest store with english box version is about 1000km from here. Ordering online? $60 game + $30 shipment + $60 * 0.3 = $20 local tax = $110 and I'll need to wait at least two weeks while it arrive (sometimes up to month).
I'm completely against piracy, but next EA-published game, I'll acquire, will be pirated by me (sad enough, I already pre-ordered DA:O addon).

Viper, If you try to get EA support, does it sent you to EA France ?

I have the Direct 2 Drive digital download, Deluxe Edition. After downloading and installing when I try to play for the first time it runs the release date check then says "The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again."
I reinstalled the game same as the initial install - custom install onto my 3rd HDD (E:/Mass Effect/ME2). Same issue upon launch. Game was unlocked properly with my D2D serial but I'm unable to launch the game at all. Rather disappointing, especially after spending 60 bucks. C'mon bioware get your shiat together. Never had any issues with Mass Effect or Dragon Age.
I'm gonna keep scouring the forums for an answer, but posting this incase it's something new, If anyone has a solution, by all means please provide it for us

I tried EA support for previous game, and always used the english based e-mail support. Always got silly e-mails wich led me to believe that they are a total waste of time.freemen_ing wrote...

I've always had bad experiences with software companies in the past, trying to get french support from them, so I always buy my games in english to avoid being directed to France.
