Is ANYONE at friggin BioWare even listening here?!?! Cmon!!!!! Basically you've ROBBED us, its not like we're complaining or nitpicking because a texture doesnt look perfect, we've PAID money and you're not even responding with a "were working on it".... DO SOMETHING FFS, at least give the people heads up who paid good money to support you as (what I'm sure people are beginning to seriously call into question) excellent Software house.... we DESERVE that much!

Ok. Just wanted to confirm that using FreeVPN worked great and it let me pass the RDC. The only thing that remains now is that EA deigns itself to give me my codes :/

I'm sorry that's just friggin fantastic but
a) who the hell should have to INSTALL a 3RD PARTY APP just to get an app that the 1ST party you bought it from should have working in the first place
B) I dont trust ANYONE elses VPN I dont care if Bill Gates came to me and hand delivered it
c) No promises it WILL work
d) Why should a VPN that you (or anyone else for that matter) purports to having worked when I completely DMZ host my machine and it still fails, why in that scenario would a VPN matter under any conditions for VERIFYING A F_____G DATE?????

Look BIOWARE provide some answers or I guarantee you, you will lose business, hard cash business, and I guarantee you also that with ALL the titles coming out around this same time that whoever IS responsible for ensuring that these systems work will be absolutely getting fired as people switch to other apps that DO work..... now start providing some answers

Can't play with release date verification issue. Digital Deluxe Edition (pre-order). I'm in US and have been on hold with EA support for 1hr 41 minutes waiting for help.

EA chat support has booted me twice after waiting 30 plus minutes for an agent.

*cries*

This is rather unprofessional. Not only is it a problem that could have been completely prevented, and easily corrected, we don't even get an explanation.

Guess that EA spent too much time worrying about Tiger Woods to properly test this game.

They could just be nice and change the server response to always activate. I have no idea why this would possibly be an issue even 5 minutes after going live.

Alright trying FreeVPN now...
Link to download is here:
http://download.cnet....html?tag=mncol
Download&install following the instructions.
Connect to "USA FREE #1"
...wait for the connection to complete

Launch your game. The date activation check will be passed.
It may ask you to register your game, do so.
Once inside the game, exit the game.

If not done yet, register, download and install all your extras.

Disconnect VPN.

Launch the game again, watch the intro movies for the 2nd or 3rd time, with the nice EA&Bioware logos that you've never seen before, but will see for the remainder of your playing through this game ;)

Log in to Cerberus, and voilà, the game is playable.

Thanks to those who pointed FreeVPN, though a link would have been nice... some "FreeVPN" links on Google are actually spywares.

Thanks, but it doesn't appear to be compatible with Windows 7 64-bit OS.

I'm sorry exactly why should anyone trust this? If you use it you're a fool....you have no IDEA what kind of information can be garnered from your own network just by doing so, thanks but no thanks.... I'll wait for some official fix....

I have Windows 7 64 bit, and Win7 is listed as being compatible, so it should work for you. Could be a problem with your firewall/anti-virus. I would suggest deactivating everything if you have a problem, then re-enable it once you got ME2 working.

After reading some of the comments on how FreeVPN hijacks your browser homepage, I think I'll pass.

Download.com is part of Cnet network, it's reliable.

If you want to wait, wait, I'm not forcing you to install anything.

If people don't want to wait to official fix, here's a temp solution that worked for me.

D2D deluxe edition DL, XPSP3.

Ran a fresh install (3rd install overall) with 'express install' this time. Came up with same misconfiguration failure. Booted up EADownload Manager and input my ME2 serial from D2D without hyphons. This time it activated properly and I launched the game via EA Download Manager. I can't explain wth is going on, but it launched flawlessly. Hopefully this issue will be resolved within' the next week so I can reinstall onto a different HDD (hate installing onto my OS drive). Until then who knows, good luck to everyone still having trouble.

I understand your anger as I'm on the same boat. I just wanted to share with the rest, something that worked and that was, IMHO, a better solution to a cracked exe, as it doesn't modify anything in your game and it's not illegal. Feel free to use it or not.

BTW, you only have to run it once to let the RDC pass and that's it. You can uninstall it afterwards as you won't be needing it again. The first time it passes is all that matters.

For the record, if I'm not mistaken, the first one to mention the successful use of a VPN was Dan107. I just confirmed that it fixed it for me too.

Yes, both of you guys, I understand that your intent is to be helpful and I absolutely acknowledge that, trust me.

I think I'm trying to keep my angst toward where it belongs and the onus of reperation where it belongs, with the developer and publisher.

THEY should be addressing this and at the very LEAST inform us.

Thanks though Viper, and yourself for at least TRYING to attain a workaround

FreeVPN worked for me as well, but that this issue existed at all is complete bull****. First there was the wait for D2D to release the activation codes (1), then entering the activation codes during the install (2). Then activating the game on the Bioware Social Network (3). Then we have to run a release date check (4), then another activation (5), and finally, one more ****ing activation (6).

EA/Bioware, please, listen to the members of this forum. Please, for the sake of your companies, fire every person who thought that you needed this many activations. This is ridiculous.

@Excildor:

I'm less mad than I was, because I was able to play my game now, thanks to the workaround.

I'm not trying to defend Bioware/EA, especially EA the parent company as I have no love for them (worst tech support in the industry and an awful development philosophy from a customer p.o.v.).

Someone said a VPN worked, someone else confirmed it did. My first 3 attemps didn't work, so I thought I could write a short text to help people who were struggling like me.

I'm now less frustrated since I can play my game. I hope for everyone's sake this problem is fixed tomorrow morning at the latest. I sure hope they won't let you hang dry until the 29th.

That's rather optimistic of you Viper.
Well at the very least I know that D2D will never again get my money. It's good to know who you can't rely on.

If I didn't have Darksiders and Bayonetta to keep my mind off this whole mess, I'd probably be a public menace by now...

hmm, Direct2Drive isn't the problem.  I bought my game from EA Store, with EA download manager.  And I think some people with Impulse reported the same problem too.

It's a problem with Bioware/EA.
