How's the proc chance on the Sulevin Blade? Is it only proc'd by normal attacks, or does dragon rage work as well?

Wow, you're...opposite me. Similar gold and I haven't gotten a usable purple weapon in a looooooooooong time but have more jewelry than I can handle. Not sure which of us I envy.

Does it matter at what level you open the chest? Or is it completely random?

The MP loot system reminds me of the early and disastrous days of Diablo 3.

where do you all see how much gold you've spent?
In prestige menu, challenge, under general.
I have spent about 350k and of my level 20 purples, I have a 21 dagger wicked grace, 20 shield everlasting march, 21 bow griffon (three shot basic attack), 21 bow punched by the maker.
I have several purple amulets, but the best one is of course my rare 10% less cooldown, followed by unique 10 constitution. A friend has a unique 15% cooldown amulet, would be best in slot for everyone.
A few purple rings, luckily one of them is 10% heal on kill, others are trash. I read on forum that two of these purple rings will stack, so that would be BiS for most characters. My second favorite ring is 30% duration disruption field
.
A few purple belts, all crap compared to 100 more hp rare belt. I have read there is a 200 hp unique belt... that is quite literally a ~25% hp boost, and would be BiS.
I estimate that on average a person needs to spend 1 mil in order to get level 20+ purple everything, 2 mil to get best in slot everything. Let's say you are running threatening with a pretty decent team, doing three full rounds per hour after factoring in loading, breaks, and opening chests. You get 3000 gold per hour, or take about 333 hours for 1 mil, 667 hours for 2 mil. This is pretty reasonable amount of time in order to get well-decked out, and probably quite similar to the amount of time required in order to get the weapons that came out with ME3MP originally.
However, ME3MP had quite literally 5-10x the droprate of upgrades and weapons, with the conditions that you only get the items at their highest stats after collecting them five or ten times. This allowed for progression to be much more visible and less subject to randomness. Once you get way up there in equipment in DA3MP, you can go 50 chests without getting any items of value to you, and not only that, you have to waste a lot of time salvaging them manually. In ME3MP, when you are way up there, the drought is usually only every 5-10 chests. Additionally, virtually all weapons are viable in ME3MP, and each weapon is unique, adding hundreds of hours of replayability. Once you have the Best in Slot items for DA3MP, then GG there is little left for replayability, you might have one or two weapons or accessories to play around with but that's about it.

It's pretty sad when it makes you miss ME's MP loot system. At least there, you knew you could eventually lock out the crap weapons to keep them from showing up to get greater chances at the good gear, not so much here. All troll. All the time.

I still feel a lot of false comparisons are being made to that system. People are repeatedly comparing the RNG acquisition of 20+ Uniques in DAI to Rare Xs in ME3. That's...not fair at all. 20+ Uniques are the best of the best of the best and their counterparts are Ultrarare Xs, both in quality and horrific grind time.
If you view 23 Commons or 20+ Rares as analogous to Rare X weapons, that changes everything massively in the favour of DAI. Because ME3's Ultrarare progression was also all troll all the time.

The issue applies when one run in ME3's MP was enough for at least a Spectre Pack, which was a rare. Now, if I'd get a common level 20+ weapon in every large chest, I would praise the RNG gods in this game. Make note that one round in both games are roughly takes about the same time, meaning one game is predictable, one is completely random. ![]()

True. But you had to get the same weapon 10x and could get things you didn't want, like junk gear or the same character card (infinitely for release). Some weapons only became worth it at higher ranks. If you view the odds of getting the same weapon 10x vs getting a common 22+/rare 20+, I know it's taken far, far, far less time for me here. Granted, the all-or-nothing nature of this system makes the mid-game progression a lot more frustrating than ME3's, perhaps. But not necessarily a worse time grind.

I like how I'm reading through your list and just being hella mad. I've played for 104 hours according to Origin. Let's say 30% of that was watching the startup screen after alt+f4'ing for the 12th time in a row, but I still only have one shitty 1h axe and a mediocre purple staff.
So I hate you.

The difference is that you knew you could completely get every Common, Uncommon and Rare as a grind. I did, and I got a nice % of the Ultra Rares before I quit, 3 of which were Ultra Rare X (Scorpion, Saber, Black Widow). That took me about 400 hours. Judging by the pace I have aquired stuff in this mode, this is insane in comparison. I have had 3 Unique items in 55-60 hours of Multiplayer, and the highest of these was level 12.
I would be fine with this if I could craft them or buy the items with in game gold, since that would at least make it manageable if I had no luck, but this is just insane. Mass Effect 3 had a dependable system, this does not, and in terms of grind, this is awful in comparison. It just is not efficient at all.

Again, Unique comparison is misleading. Also, you had a sizable chunk of Uniques (Ultrarares) in ME3 at 8x your current DAI time. How many Ultrarare Xs--or Ultrarares at all--did you have at 55 hours? As for the Common 22+/Rare 20+ grind, I'd agree it's frustrating but wouldn't agree it's necessarily worse. This coming from someone who opened 10 mil in PSPs for Reckoning and got...exceedingly little. And my friend has 200 hours and not even a PPR 1.

We can all agree that this system could use improvement. I'm actually rather annoyed that they didn't improve on the clear shortcomings of ME3, which really wouldn't have been that hard to address. But as someone who was on track for 1.5k hour Ultrarare completion running Gold/Plat exclusively, I can't say that this is a grindier system. I have BiS rings, amulets, bows, and 1h dagger (singular) at 150 hours and some extremely good blue 2hs that I'll take over any berserk weapon. At this point, we're just guessing on droprates. It sounds like you had a good ME3 droprate with a large sample size of packs, compared to a poor DAI droprate with a much lower sample size of packs.
I would again state, though, that the all-or-nothing nature of this system makes the RNG grind more frustrating here than in ME3, Ultrarares excluded.

In me3 I like & still use
1. Claymore
2. Black widow
3. Widow
4. Saber
5. PPR
6. CSMG
7. Raider
8. Reegar
9. Geth shotgun
10. Talon
11. Arc pistol
12. Indra
13. Acolyte
14. Hurricane
15. Lancer
16. Falcon
17. Krysae
18. Kishock
19. Executioner
20. Valkyrie
21. Collector assault rifle
Those are my favorites that I switch out often. Others are totally fun. I don't have typhoon or harrier or javelin unlocked or I would use them.
22. I forgot I use spitfire for lulz sometimes.
Damp - I use my level 15 bow on archer & hunter. Never switch it.
Level 14 rare axe level 20 shield on Lego & templar. Never changed since acquired.
Same level 15 staff on all wizard types. Got that 2 weeks ago. Never changed gear for 9 characters in 2 weeks.
You find me3 worse than this? This just seems stale to me. I like variety

1) Most of those weapons were introduced well, well, well after release.
2) A lot of those weapons are fun--and you can certainly find tons of fun weapons with cool effects...you could always slot the worse-DPS Walking Bomb effect weapon. But if you're looking for top-tier weapons, which is what you're chasing if you're looking for 20+ Uniques, this is the shortlist for heavyweight weapons, excluding Acolyte which is definitely good but not for its value as a weapon.
a) PPR
b ) Harrier
c) Claymore
d) Reegar
e) Wraith
f) CSMG
g) Hurricane
h) Javelin
i) BW
j) Talon
Notice anything here? Of those 10 weapons that're often considered the best weapons in the game, all but 2 are Ultrarare. A lot of what you're talking about with weapon diversity comes down to a difference of gameplay rather than the loot system. If ME3 were all about the high #s, which this is because of the gameplay format, you wouldn't touch the Saber with a 70 foot pole. I agree that this current format is "stale", largely because of the loot system and nonscaling uniques drastically limiting the pool...and also because it's a RPG, not a shooter. But if we're talking about the raw difficulty of acquiring gear through the store, me'n mine had HORRIBLE experiences with ME3.
