The question is not the the amount of material, but the reliability of the source. And, to be clear, I don't mean something as simplistic as "its in the Codex" because its all from the Codex.

The source of all the information we had on fen'Harel, prior to DAI, was oral traditions that were thousands of years old. As pointed out earlier, passing of information by word of mouth becomes unreliable by the time it moves from one end of the room to another. Millenia old legends are the most extreme form of unreliable, though there is always a kernel of the truth, of course.

The new information we have on the Creator gods, on the other hand, is written records found in the Temple of Mythal. These are far more reliable, just by virtue of not being tales told to youngsters time and again, over many centuries.

The fact it all ends up in the game's Codes is irrelevant.

It's still no more than conjecture and opinion of the ancient elves who worshiped them as gods. How things are interpreted vs how things actually happened are just as much a real life issue as it is in this instance. Look no further than modern religion. Maybe I'm wrong about this but it sure seems like a setup for the inquisitor to stop solas from whatever he is trying to accomplish. Hence making him not the good guy.

Sorry, I don't agree with that. In my re-plays I definitely won't be romancing him again.

You'll understand if you watch the cutscene in the credits. It makes perfect sense.

That is how Gods do it. They mingle with mortals and then they flee. It seems that the old elven gods have much in common with greek gods

Want a happy ending? Romance Cullen. It's nice. It's sweet. And best of all, happy.

The romance with Solas was... surprisingly amazing. He leaves for a good reason. Should you romance Solas again, make Cole a spirit and after the game, go and visit Cole at the tavern. What Cole says will assure you that Solas left your Inquisitor to protect her (he may be referring to either Cole or the Inquisitor in his comment, but it is still applicable either way).

After he broke my Inquisitor's heart (well, and mine, too) I thought I'd stay away from Solas whenever I rolled a female Inquisitor... but it's too good to ignore.

Cole says that no matter whether you made him a spirit or a human.

I...I'm not quite sure what the one has to do with the other?

I mean I agree with your last point, there.  The final (omfg jawdropping) cutscene implied heavily that Solas is going to be the antagonist, either in this game's DLC (yes please!) or the sequel (screw that, gimme Dread Wolf DLC, I don't want to wait years for the followup to that scene).

But you used the legends of Fen'Harel as justification for him not merely being the antagonist, but being a villain:

No I'm projecting what the lore tells us about the dread wolf.

http://dragonage.wik.../wiki/Fen'Harel

And then you suggest that new information that casts The Dread Wolf, and indeed all of the Creators, in a very different light, is a flimsy reason to believe he might not be evil.  Aren't you contradicting yourself?

Or, at the very least, that's what it read like to me.

Direct contradiction of your own logic. You can't say that all of what we know about the ancient elves was lost in translation of the generations to only cite your source of such knowledge as a codex entry. Are you seriously going to take the word of one entry vs two whole other games worth of material on the dread wolf?

I never said all of it, I said it was piecemeal. It's like trying to play solitaire with fifty percent of the deck missing and another twenty five percent burned in such a way you can't really tell what suit is which. Sure, you might have that last twenty five percent as clear as day but you can't exactly play solitaire with so much of the deck compromised now can you?. I NEVER said it was all gone and I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth. None. However, the elves themselves admit that much was lost. That's the whole point of Merrill's arc in the second game. She wants to take back something from that past, anything, and ultimately pays for it. Tamlin and Mahariel in Origins didn't even know that dwarves and Elves traded together, something they learned in the dungeon holding the Eluvian that ultimately tainted Tamlin. Hell, they didn't even know it WAS an Eluvian - a major elven artifact at the time.

I am going to note again and saying yeah solas leaves a message for the inquisitor male or female even if cole is human. I think getting the message depends on his approval rating if non romanced(not sure)
