I just started a new Warrior and I was hoping to make a 2-hand tank (I'm only playing on normal).  Maybe I'm just used to blowing things up as a Rogue, but after fighting the first few mobs, it just doesn't seem like I'm doing much damage at all.  I haven't even hit level two yet, but the tiny chunks that my massive sword is slowly taking out of these demons has me worried.  I wanted to spec as a Champion because I think that Line in the Sand is really cool, but would I be doing decent damage just pulling from the default trees, or would I be doing pretty much nothing but keeping aggro?  Thanks in advance for any advice!

At lvl 1 you can hardly get a grasp on how the game works. My advice, keep playing and doing what you wanted to do.

Spec into "To the death" for damage. Walking fortress is a higher priority for me though. Both branches of champion tree are good. You won't be the heaviest hitter on your team but you'll do alright.

"To the Death" offers more damage output for the entire party than any other warrior ability, but that's only if you are a proper SnS tank. A 2H tank does not have the luxury to use "To the Death".

I don't recommend 2H tank, since ultimately you will contribute both less survivability and less damage output to the party's overall performance.

2-handed tank does not really work, sword and shiled is just better. Only playing on hard you might get away with it, and fine to roleplay what you want.

If there is any particular encounter you are worried about, such as the last rift in the prelude, maybe you sould be explicit about that. Besides Cass, a proper tank, can take the strain.

a 2h tank is absolutely viable and I have used one for two playthroughs on nightmare. One of which was without a mage.

You just have to understand a 2h tank isn't a "hey everyone come hit me" kind of tank. You mitigate damage through controlling the battlefield and not by hiding behind a shield. 2h tank provides much more damage and aoe than a sns tank, and can be just as tanky if you invest in the sns passives, but that kind of defeats the purpose of being 2h if you waste points in sns doesn't it.

One thing to note though, is ranged enemies will rip a 2h tank apart, so you will have to make sure to take that into consideration when engaging ranged enemies. Champion is a great investment for a 2h tank because it allows you to fully commit to being a control/damage oriented tank since champion gives you invulnerability.
