Sorry if this has been asked before. Morrigan said that cory's ability to transfer soul came from his dragon. But he was asleep for a long time before hawke killed him but he still managed to transfer his soul to the grey warden. How did this happen? Was it mentioned anywhere that he already had the dragon long before the events of da2?

Good question. There was no dragon anywhere close to legacy dlc.

I don't think the ability comes from the dragon. I think that killing the dragon kills part of him and prevents him from doing it. (ie. no dragon, no death)

Morrigan said that it was his pride, and his pride will be his undoing.... (ie. his pride of giving part of his soul to the dragon will undo him)

To elaborate: before he split his soul, he could possess willy nilly, but now that he split it into a dragon, if the dragon dies, that part of him dies and he can't.

I see, possible. I was under the impression that it was some sort of horcrux thing, like there's still part of his soul somewhere that's why killing his body will just re animate him. which made me wonder how he did it in DA:2.
