Turn the bolt, true invulnerability that can have literally 100% uptime if you're lucky, additional invulnerability vs melee that knocks down archers, 3 really good guard generation abilities that will usually take you to full, doubled armor values, and a shield.

 

I've played Katari and he feels like he's just...not designed for a format where there're archers/horrors/knights.  I wonder if he was the first class made or something, before the gameplay was solidified.  Every other class has a way to mitigate the pain, be it through aggro dropping/untargetability, massive resists/invulnerability, or a way to increase your effective health pool.  He doesn't have any of those tools and is working entirely off base values.  Think about that for a second.  Think about how worthless base values are compared to sustain/invulnerability + base values.  Dear lord, it hadn't struck me until writing this just how powerless against damage the Katari is.

Oh what I'd give for Fade Cloak on Katari.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Even just a few seconds to get your cooldowns/effective health pool up or the enemies down would be a godsend.  He has nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  And Combat Roll doesn't compare to Fade Cloak/Walking Fortress/Stealth/Lifesteal/Barrier.  Especially since many of those classes also have combat roll or a combat roll equivalent that they don't even consider taking because they have vastly better options on the table.

Maybe we'll get more in depth weapon crafting, end game weapons are bound to have +40 ish to a stat, when we can get that ranged damage mitigation we will have a far easier time.

True...but other classes will have that too.  If Katari gets 20 ranged resist, then Legionnaire will be able to solo Perilous room 5 while the other 3 players AFK.  I've heard a lot of people assert that Katari is fine relative to the other classes once he has good gear but...that doesn't make sense given that their trees make full use of good gear and their kits are better.

I guess there's only one option. Grind rogue classes. Grind them hard.

I like the Katari. I'm on my third play through with him.

1st time - charging bull, mighty blow, earthshake strike, whirlwind

2nd - charging bull, mighty blow, earthshake strike, war horn

This time - charging bull, mighty blow, pommel strike, earthdhaking strike.

Full offense and love it. Like the above poster said, pommel strike is really good. I like this set up better than my previous 2. The passives are really good.

Earthshaking strike is so bad though. It might be the most horrible skill I've seen yet. That is counting the Alchemist marbles.

Once you have a taste of To The Death and Grapplling hook you'll never go back.


I agree with earthshaking strike on mooks, on bosses its okay. However, skittles are freakin awesome. I use them in every hunter build to take out entire groups on perilous, and while they're harder to use on the alchemist mid fight, they're great for setting up traps.

It works for me. It works rather well. If it didnt work or if it was bad i wouldnt use it in every encounter like I do now.

I was going to tell you to join me and play a game with me and I'd show you, but your video in the other thread showed you are on PC. Im on the xbox one.

Bear mauls the wolves is the only thing i went for from the other tree this go round.

I play very aggressively. Controlled chaos. Point of the spear.

If you want to try a build with more tact try mine next promotion! I'll be sure to give yours a spin (coincidentally I have skilled all those abilities, so I'll be right on it). Do you find the upgrade for Earthshake strike vital?

 

My build is Charging Bull, To The Death, Grapling Hook and Pommel Strike.

Tank and keeper carried you. Sometimes you get these teams without keepers or tanks that can help you, what do you do then?

I've spent 280k+ at the store and RNG still hasnt blessed me with a heal on kill ring.

Literally just carried every pug game, new room every game from 17 to 20 over the past few hours. All games on threatening. I'm sure someone will cry about it not being perilous. Do not care.

I've spent 280k+ at the store and RNG still hasnt blessed me with a heal on kill ring.

 

Don't get me wrong I mean no offense. But with a full offensive build you're as squishy as an assassin but without the means to drop aggro.. Without a keeper/tank that looks out for you you wouldn't make Threathening.

So how do you explain that i have been doing it all afternoon/night?

Like i have been setting the pace, ie charging from from one group to the next, with complete disregard for my teammates. As in charging into a group of enemies killing 7+ while my pug teammates are smashing vases. All with a completely offensive build. All on threatening. And i know i can do it on perilous with a heal on kill ring.

You can do that when your teammates are stacked. Like if you have a good barrierbro or tankbro. Either that or magic.

Lol.. No. I was doing it with bad teammates, as the only warrior in the group and with no barrier being given. I wish i have the capability to record my gameplay so that i can show you. Hopefully i will soon. I'll show you a Katari that plays babysitter to mages.

In SP there seems to be a bug with the DoT of earthshaking, I haven't tested it in MP though. It seems to do 200% weapon damage (most of the time) instead of the 20%. I don't know which one is supposed to be correct. It may just be a typo and in that case it would actually be a really good ability.
