I think they are just cosmetic, but I might be wrong. I only sometimes use the horse and it's always the armored horse that comes with deluxe version.

Some would call them... a waste of time ![]()

They look reskinned. I rarely even used mine because I kept getting knocked off by hostile mobs.

ORTesc, not sure if you know but there's an Inquisition (I think it's under that) perk you can get that will make that less frequent.

Yes I got that, I think there are 3 levels to it? I know I got 2 and was still being kicked off the mount. So I just gave up riding it.

I never use the damn horse. It's only about 25% faster than running on foot and you can't get party banter if you're on the horse.

Yeah, and you can't loot, attack, or talk from the mount so it's really pointless.
Even though lore is against it I'm kind of sad my elf inquisitor couldn't actually be a Halla rider.

how do you even switch the mount you use?

You have to buy them. There's a guy in the Hinterlands you need to convince to come to Skyhold.

You can only switch one at a time and from Skyhold. No idea why they're just not in your inventory like most games handle mounts.

Bioware is good at making useless things... like sending your advisor out for 20 minutes to make 100g. The game punishes you for basically no reason because it's trying to be a singleplayer mmo.

Hey no bad talk about mounts, shame this is the no spoiler sections as I would love to go on about my special exotic mounts.
But as for their uses, they are basically there for you to cheese the game.
Hill too awkward to climb up? Jump up with your ninja horse.
Drop a bit too far? Jump off with your mount that takes no fall damage.
