I'm going to start a nightmare run with a warrior soon.
Which class should I choose between shield or 2h ones? Which of the two have you found more performing?

1h + shield: Tank.

2h: DPS.

You can interchange them, but that's the easiest way. For 2h you go for control until you get Reaver, then you go all out dps. For 1h + shield you get the passives in Weapon and Shield tree, the 20% armor in Vanguard and whatever else you prefer.

There are other threads with different 2h warrior build, so check those out!

Yeah I know the differences, but since i have yet to experience the warrior as a main character on nightmare I wanted to know which of the 2 is easier to use at high levels!

Everything is easy at higher level. They are 2 different roles. Tanking, or dpsing. Hitting hard, or living long. They fulfill different roles.

I don't know what to tell you! :/

SnS will both be easier, and allow you to contribute more to the party. At higher levels, your party will have both higher damage output and higher survivability if you play your tank Inquisitor properly.

Here's a guide: http://forum.bioware...-immortal-tank/

I didn't see that 20% armor increase in Vanguard there called trust the steel. I'll give that to Cassandra as soon as possible. :) I'm playing on normal though.

I'm playing on nightmare now; switched from a 2H warrior (was getting destroyed by melee aoe) to a SnS Templar.  Going great now.

If you have FF off, you can do both Tank and dps since it doesn't really matter. Otherwise, i would strongly advise you to go Sword and Board first, then 2hand tanking late game.

Which specialization?

Templar are ok, but only if you will not give vivienne a cleanse in her Knight Enchanter build or if you want a double cleanse. I call it the "balance specialization" since you can tank decently, and do an average dps with 2 hander. However, the tree is more oriented to tanking.

If you are good with Block and Slash, and know how to avoid big channeled attack, Champion can tank with a 2hand weapon late game without breaking a sweat. Plus, if you wanna be conventional, he's the best tank of the lot hands down.

Reaver is a good dps spec (lower single target dps than rogue in my opinion). However, you will need a second warrior to tank until you reach late late game and crafted/looted the best in slot gear. I haven't tried a sword and board reaver, It seems to be have a good potential for tanking dps build, (probably better pure dps than 2hand Champion), but it would be a waste since you only have access to 7 ability...

As for your team comp, 1 warrior tank, 2 mage dps/support 1 rogue range dps is the easiest way to kill anything in nightmare. Or 2 warrior, mage, rogue if you don't like to tank mobs.

Definitely go with Weapon and Shield until you reach Skyhold (the beginning is the hardest part in Nightmare). Afterwards you can do pretty much whatever you like with proper gear; You can get tier 3 armor schematics shortly after getting Skyhold by running to the merchant in Hissing Wastes.

As a 2-hand warrior, I recommend taking at least 2 of the 3 defensive passives in Weapon and Shield. Personally I feel like the 50% damage reduction from ranged and the 20% damage reduction from the front are the most important, as they are calculated before armor mitigation. After grabbing those (requires 4 ability points) you can survive quite easily as a DPS or even become a tank yourself. Grab Block and Slash and Combat Roll if you play to tank as a 2-hand user, as they are mandatory for that build IMO.

Considering the heavy ability point requirement, it seems natural to start the game as a Weapon and Shield and later respec if you wish to use a 2-hander, once you have enough points. Again, this is true for a Nightmare playthrough.
