Why is Sera the only one you can kick out after recruiting?

It kind of limits the choice you have -- you either have to accept the party member at first glance, or be deprived of them for the rest of the playthrough.

Realistically, why couldn't you recruit someone and then realize later that you're not willing to put up with their stances? Evidently you can do that, but only for Sera.

I find that odd as well, it's almost as if they predicted people would want her kicked out! (Not that I would)

Ignoring the fact I find her very annoying, I think perhaps the biggest reason is that she is possibly disruptive, so it makes plot sense to be able to tell her to go because she's been causing too much trouble.

Note they give you multiple chances to kick Cole out too, which makes sense since some Inquisitors could consider him evil.

The only one I would get rid off is Blackwall because of his past. I could never kick Sera out, her laugh is just heartwarming. Cole as well, I could never get rid off him after hearing about where he came from. That whole thing... I could feel the tears coming.

When Vivienne threw a strop over not getting her way with the Mages and started acting like a spoiled child i wanted the option to tell her to pack up her junk and leave. Bioware needs to be fair with these options.

I think ya can kick everyone . Everytime I recruited someone , in the choice above it would say X would leave forever and not return . Not just her . Maybe ya need the option to show it turned on .

I had a boot out Dorian option turn up.  But I guess it was tied to approval, which was low because I'd gone the Templar route.

You can easily get rid of Blackwall by just leaving him where he is after his personal quest.

Agreed. Not to mention her constantly trying to nudge her way in to trying to feel important by giving you (your character) advice on how to do things. By that point my character would have gladly told her to get the hell out.

If you want a reason, Sera is the only one who actively goes around pranking and disrupting your organization. Even your most hated other people will just moan at you in personal conversations. I wouldn't mind the option to just kick anybody out, though.

Sera is the only one, that I know of, you can kick out at any time by talking to her in Skyhold -- as opposed to just refusing to let them join or making them ragequit via disapproval.

I believe Solas and Cassandra will also never leave you.

Yeah, I don't believe you can get rid of Solas. When you hit his negative approval, he throws a tirade at you and you can punch him. But even then he just slinks off and stays the course. Not sure about Cassandra, but I would hazard that there are at least four companions you can't get rid of.

I'm betting 3. Cass, Solas and Varric. Varric isn't as key to the storyline except for bringing Hawke into the fray, but that line up would give you 1 warrior, mage and rogue and then yourself to fill in the missing gap.

That's a good point! I wonder, is it possible to end the game with zero mages then?

There's the possibility that Solas will be back. He does steal everything you had equipped to him, unless that's an oversight.

I'm not a 100% positive but I believe it was said earlier that Sera won't leave unless you kick her out, it seems most of the chars have situations which can cause them to leave.  Sera's is just the most direct, which seems fitting.

Well, I wanted to kick Vivienne out and couldn't. She does make some good points at times, but mostly they're just there to benefit her, and I'm not letting her use my organization just so she could be the center of attention.

It would've been best if they added the option to make the companions you recruited after Val Royeaux leave if you felt like it.

If you don't recruit Viv, can she still be made divine?

Even though I don't like some characters (Viv and Sera), I still recruit them and do their quests. But I don't want Viv to be divine so if I were to ever not recruit someone, I might consider it, if it meant that Viv would never get to be divine.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed on here that Varric can leave if

Spoiler

I have not confirmed this for myself though.

It is incredibly odd that she's the only one you can kick out at any time. In fact I found it so conspicuous that at first I thought it had to end up being some sort of dialogue option where she refuses to leave or something. Still can't figure out the reasoning for it. She can be a bit annoying, but she's not so heinous as to require a permanent abort button.

Cassandra won't leave. If you get her approval low enough you'll find her drowning her sorrows. You can tell her to get out, but she'll flat out refuse.

Anyone can be annoying and yet they still stay. I really need to know why is Sera the only one who has that option.

I find it odd. Sera isn't really disruptive unless you agree to help her, and even then it's only once in good fun with harmless pranks. She keeps to herself if that's how you want it and she adds helpful operations to the war table with her Friends so I'd consider her more useful than some other companions who don't have anything at all to contribute besides themselves and just joined on circumstance.
