Morning All.Is there much after I get to Skyhold....? (Y/N)   I'm not looking for spoilers... I just wanna know in terms of content....because The Battle of Haven was the most epic thing in a game I have seen in a long time. (Haven't felt that way since Mass Effect (1-3 and/or DA 2)....I mean I've played those games dozens of times each now so I know what to expect- but I'm talking about the jaw-dropping that happens the very first time you play a game like ME or (Dragon Age Inquisition, for that matter).... When you first achieve something that was really difficult (i.e. finishing a really hard battle) or especially, when you first enter a really huge and beautiful landscape (ie The Storm Coast or Hinterlands...or even Haven.  Totally digging the environment artwork and characters too in Inquisition). And I have now officially solidified my absolute enjoyment of this game. I was immersed from the very first moment....but when I first started, the sheer scope of the landscapes was truly daunting (and I'm a bit of a Completionist) so I was feeling overwhelmed.  I have since learned how to combat that feeling by traveling back and forth, not doing everything at once in any given area.

So yeah, my question is....how much of the story/content etc is left? Because I don't want it to end.

I'm amazed with this game. The landscapes are truly beautiful and the characters are as unique as any Bioware has ever created.  love this game!     Good job Bioware! :)

Oh boy... Skyhold is where the game really picks off. Haven was only the beginning, you're nowhere near even halfway through the game once you get to Skyhold!

I'd consider that when you get to Skyhold you're then maybe 1/4 (maybe 1/3?) done only to be honest. There's a LOT more to do after that. Nowhere near the midway point even though.

Everything in Haven is basically the tutorial to the game.  I know it doesn't seem like it, but all of the missions/events in Haven are really there to kick off the story and get things going.  Skyhold is where the game really "starts".

Having said that, no there are not dozens or story missions left.  Once you get to Skyhold there are maybe 7 or so main story missions I think, but keep in mind that you have to clear a lot of zones and do lots of side quests and other events to level up to be able to do those missions.  So for every main story mission you do, there is many hours of gameplay to set yourself up to get to the next story mission.  Basically, the majority of the game's content is still ahead of you.

If you're just blitzing the story, you can finish the game in 12 hours I'd say. It's the rest of the stuff that makes it a very long game. Though I thing youi'd have to use cheats to get enough gold / gear / power etc to finish the game by just bltizing the story stuff.

The whole thing with Haven is basically the prolog of the game.

So, yes.

Main story wise, you're roughly 9/20 into the game.

Side quest wise and exploration zones wise, you're about 1/4 into the game.

Hello and good morning to everyone (again)  Thank you all for answering my question so quickly.  I am looking forward to playing Inquisition more today....Now that I have reached Skyhold I want to explore that and immerse myself in my 'home'.  I am also looking forward to continuing talking to many of the characters, Cassandra especially...I am intrigued/surprised/delighted to see how fleshed-out, interesting and complex she is as a character (compared to the glimpses we got of her in DA II when she was interrogating Varric).   And Cullen as well is also an intriguing character.  All of the characters are very well written.....they all seem so alive.  This is truly the first Dragon Age game where I have felt that the characters, story, environments etc create a 'living, breathing world'.  I loved the story and characters in Origins, but the slow, turn-based combat was a bit of a detractor for me when it comes to immersion-breaking.  (but I've explained my reasoning for that in previous posts so I won't rehash).

Last night I played for 6.5 hours straight and I was up till 2 a.m. (eastern time) this morning (Sunday).  I was totally immersed in the world....finally feeling comfortable with the style of play that especially the exploration of such huge locales required....and I totally lost track of time.

That's what I love about Bioware games, or any game that is exceptionally well-written....you can lose all track of time and be completely immersed in the 'world' that the game gives to you as a player.

And Solas is evermore intriguing......

I'm curious, can anyone tell me anything about the "World of Thedas" books (Vol. 1 if they have it, and possibly what I can expect to see in Vol. 2 when it is released in April)?   I am very interested in, and planning on ordering both of those books together as a set from Amazon in the Spring to add to my collection of hardcover collectibles.

Many Thanks.   Have a great day today! :)

After Skyhold you have another 3 long main missions (tho 1 mission take you through 3 different maps) plus 1 final confrontation with final boss. So I would say you just got through 1/3 of the game, storywise. If you like exploration, dragon hunting, and such however, I would say you are only 1/5 or 1/6 in. I reach Skyhold at 16 hours mark, and finish the game at around 90 hours. I'm not completionist tho, so there are still stuffs left to be done. So yea, long journey await :P

How long are these 3 remaining missions? Are they 1 hour a piece or 3-5 hours?

I've only done one of them, but that was like 2-4 hours (don't really know specifically because I did a lot of exploration between the different parts of the quest, since it has you traveling to different areas).  But definitely longer than an hour.

Well that sucks. 3 main story quest after skyhold that can be completed in 6 hours?!? This is so underwhelming.

It's 5 story quests, after Skyhold, not 3.

Most main quests are of similar length, maybe except "Here Lies the Abyss" which is significantly longer.

But what is the average length of these 5 missions? 2 hours?

Well, it would depend. What difficulty are you playing at, and how much into tactics do you go? How much do you explore each area, how much dialogue do you do? All of those add to it. I will say for me, on Casual with no tactics view exhausting dialogue and doing a moderate to heavy amount of exploring in every main plot area, main story missions took me on average 4-5 hours, if not a bit more. That's not counting talking to the companions about the fallout and their related quests.

First playtrhough for me marked at 156 h.  (40-45h from them are hours that i left game afk because went to sleep/forgot to turn it off while needed to be afk :V, but the mission on table progressed)

it was (quite, but not max) completionist Nightmare, FF on, no exploit run. It was first playthrough and some trial and error in some storyline places.  Well boy, assuming its still 110 h of gameplay, including all videos and talks and readfings ( i read stuff  , sometimes, and play all talks - never skip talks and cutscenes), is pretty amazing. If your gimp your experience by playing Casual with skipping cutscenes, you can just blame yourself.

I play Hardmode with no FF and I fully explore, read all codex books/notes and exhaust all dialog.

Fully exploring is probably going to burn you out. Just a warning if you want to try another character... It`s better to leave at least 2 major zones mostly untouched for a second run. Not least because you are going to overlevel a bit and make story content too easy (I assume you want at least some challenge if you picked Hard).

There's a way to 'track' your overall progress in game. Check out the Solas' fresco room, the less empty walls you see - the further you've progressed. It's not accurate, sure, but it should give one the basic idea about how much of the main plot remains.

I got to Skyhold after about 20 hours of gameplay.  I'm now at 60 hours, and have done one more majory story mission, with one more sitting there that Ive had available for 25-30 hours.  There's just so much to get into and do.  Just yesterday, I finally found a use for all of the shards.

Though Ive been playing RPG games since the late 80s and played DA1 and 2 each three times through, the combat on "normal" mode is still a challenge for me, and I find that going up one or two levels beyond the recommended works best for me.  I'm excited to hear that there are seven or so main missions after SKyhold.  I've been holding off on taking on "here lies the abyss" because I was concerned it may put me closer to the end of the game.

Here Lies the Abyss is roughly the halfway point of the main storyline. A few things open up after it.

My first play through took 114 hours and I did most everything in the game. All the side quests, the shard collection and the unlock in the Forbidden Oasis, etc. Mosaics are a *pain* to get though. I've only completed the one from the Hissing Wastes and that's because everything is out in the open and nothing is hidden or out of view.

Some of them, I'm VERY sure the guides to finding all the pieces are missing many locations and are inaccurate on others.

I hate Prima guides maps because they're very sloppy and imprecise.

I read the World of Thedas Vol 1 as refresher when I was gearing up for inquisition. If your into the lore and art then it will probably be worth it to you. It kinda reminded me of history text books from school. Except more interesting.

As others have said, if you're interested in more than just blitzing through the main story missions, you've barely scraped the surface.

I've reached the typical Bioware "Once you start this mission there's no going back" mission. I don't know how long that final string of missions will be, but - because I've been hoovering up all the smaller side quests and collectibles - I have over 120 hours invested in the game even before I start down that path.

In summary then, the game can be as long or as short as you want it to be. But, however you decide to play, you definitely have the meat of the game still ahead of you.

If thats true, I'm actually further along than I thought.  It seems to be about 2/3 complete.  I hadn't ever really paid attention until now.
