In DAO, Loghain can be executed or recruited. Then he can be sacrificed or not.

Now, in DAI, he can be left in the Fade or pulled out of it.

 

I think it's safe to say that no other character in the Dragon Age franchise braved so many opportunities for demise while having the possibility of emerging unscathed if the player is so inclined.

Some may say that he deserved to die for his crimes as regent but we reject that. Others may claim it is only fitting that he be sacrificed to save his beloved homeland but we know that is not necessary.

And now, others will probably defend that Loghain has lived a long and interesting life. That it is time to pass the torch to a younger generation. But we say no!

 

This is a thread for those who, at every opportunity, always spare Loghain, the toughest son of a ****** in Thedas. He will outlast the Dragon Age!

 

That which is Loghain may never die. But rise again, harder and stronger.

I always execute Logain because my wardens always blame him for the collapse at Ostagar. Having said that, he is probably my favorite character in Thedas and it's quite likely that his actions at Ostagar were justified.

Ugh what is it about Logain? Why do people admire that sorry sack of sh** after everything he did to the wardens. I'm sorry but Alistair couldn't have said it better at the Landsmeet. Who in their right fu**Ing mind would exile Alistair someone who was with you from THE BEGINNING and replace him with Logain who numerously tried to have you killed, betrayed his King and abandoned the battlefield, I believe that's called desertion, leaving hundreds of people including the King to die. Even locked away his own daughter and seized the throne for himself. He despises the grey wardens all through origins and yet if you do recruit him, in inquisition he acts like he's ssoooo dedicated to the grey wardens, oh gee Logain nice to see your holding the wardens in such high regard now. *rolls eyes at Logain* too each his own I guess but I will NEVER understand why anyone would choose him over Alistair. Just mind boggles me.

Right, you do know it's possible to have Alistair as King and make Loghain a Warden, if that is your issue.

I approve of this thread. Hawke's expendable. Loghain, as an uncorrupted Warden, is not. And really, after I chose him I thought, "Huh, I'm doing it again. This guy's one lucky bastard in my playthroughs."

I think it's a fair rationale to make: that Loghain can do more to help stabilize the Warden situation, particularly after everything that happened. I ended up sparing Warden Loghain with Revas Lavellan; he was a senior Warden, with the rest of the Orlesian Wardens now leaderless. Hawke also made the offer first to give the rest of us time. It's a conclusion to his storyline with Corypheus. Otherwise, Hawke inexplicably leaves for Weisshaupt, despite his research into red lyrium, and wanting to atone for setting Corypheus free.

 

Warden Loghain heads to Weisshaupt, apparently embroiled in another Warden themed incident, perhaps against the First Warden who vies for control of the Anderfels.

Well. Loghain sure is a badass, and a good man, as I've learned in the books...

 

But Kallian only knew how he betrayed the Wardens, which almost resulted in both her and Alistair dieing.

She let Alistair solve the... personal... matter with who she considered nothing but traitorous scum.

As such, there was no Loghain for me. But the man sure is a hero in those playthroughs he lives.

I've been joking that for Da4, my World State will be called "No, Loghain, You Still Can't Die"
