I don't like your plan. It sucks.

So which advisor did you think had the worst plans for the war room table operations? Which advisor did you think had the best plans? Did it change from what you were originally planning before the game was released?

Personally, I thought I'd be using Josie for a good amount of the operations, but the majority of her actions seemed really silly and roundabout. For example, why would we need to contact neighboring allies to look for men we've lost or to build a bridge for us? We have soldiers and architects that can do this easily and I'd rather dispatch them than use up favors or trust matters in foreign hands.

On the other hand, I was surprised by how much I was relying on Leliana to complete missions since they offered a really good blend of getting things done and subtlety. There were times where I'd postpone an operation just to wait for Leliana to finish her current op just to get her to do it because she was fairly effective and had clever ways about doing the mission most of the time.

So what are your thoughts on the efficacy of the advisors?

I lol'd at the mission where Leliana wanted to raise soldiers's morale at a keep by buying them new shoes.

Hey, it was actually a better and more useful plan than Josephine's "send books"

I found all three advisors have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall, I was pretty entertained by the choices.

I don't really have one I use less. I just send them all to a different one that fits best each time I go to the war room. Although, I find myself wishing I could use Leliana on most of them.

Depends on a mission.

I was most suprised, when Chantry asked the Inquisition about preserving the books from a certain cellar from bandits.

Cullen wanted to send soldiers to make the place safe, Leliana to send agents to recover the books and give them back to the Chantry.

Josephine, the kind, make everyone happy, diplomatic Josephine said to runsack the place, so the Chantry won't approach the Inquisition with such trivialities next time.

Damn girl! I assigned this mission to her, but damn, was I suprised.

...Why?

Soldiers are generally happier when their feet aren't bleeding from the massive blisters caused by improper footwear during wartime.

Maybe he was picturing them all running around in Orlesian Stilettos...

Aside from a few I mostly set them based on the time it said they would take

Besides the amount of time it takes to do an operation, does it really matter who we choose?

That's a reference to one of her campsite conversations in DAO.

If you like rp and story, yes.  Bad war table decisions can cause certain bad things to happen.

You can get different rewards and some chain missions will end if you choose the wrong one.

Mine is a cross between Josephine and Cullen.  They either like to do a lot of talking to nobles or just flat out ignoring something.  I often send Leliana for important ones.

Definitely agree, OP. Seems like a bunch of the missions are like "we need to do a thing" and Cullen's all "OK so let's send our dudes to do the thing" but Josie goes "well I could get some local noble to do the thing for us" and I'm just "why would we outsource this, calling in favors that could potentially be used for something else, when we have the manpower to do it ourselves? Cullen, go tell your dudes to do the thing."

That said, when Josephine has a good reason to have someone else do it for us, I'll generally agree. I remember one operation where I had to get something translated and she pointed out that some Chantry scholars would kill to get their hands on it, so we could let them do the work—we'd get it translated, and they'd like it, two birds, one stone.

I am also using her for several operations after Halamshiral, since Leliana's solutions seem to have taken a turn for the unnecessarily violent.

I find myself wanting to use Leliana for about 2/3rds of the missions, which really sucks because I currently have about 12 hours of table missions saved up for my spymaster while I'm sending Cullen and Josie on resource missions.

Josie is my second favorite, but there's often too much appeasement and putting a public face on questionable actions.  Cullen's plan is usually just to march soldiers into a situation, which, hey, when all you have is a hammer...  But Leliana likes to slip in, prune the problem at the root, and disappear without a trace.  Not only that, but her plans tend to be the most protective of the Inquisition's forces and allies.

Some will unlock further missions, depending on the choice.

My war table tactics changed during the playthrough. I started out doing almost everything with Leliana, but when the inquisition grew and became more respectable, I started using Josephine much more often. All of a sudden I was more interested in cementing my Femquiz's influence and finding more allies...

Cullen would always be my go to with everything involving the military.

So far nothing beats Leliana's plan to save some local fauna in Western Approach by luring them away from the roads instead of hunting the pests down. The reply from the Captain was hilarious, really. Also, Jozie's plan about sending the local forces to secure some runaway noble did not work quiet well because

A 'shoes' one was an obvious easter-egg for the DAO players, and is no that bad as the library idea, but I'd rather trust Cullen about what's good for a soldier.

Indeed I found each had their strength, and many a choice gave me pause.

This was an incredible feature, although I would have liked to see a few more consequences come from these missions.

I'd rather not. The last thing I want in DAI is to get something 'bad' in the end just because I had skipped a 30hours RT long mission at the table, or because some of my choices were not optimal (as the game sees that).

This is mostly what I've been doing. Most of the war table missions haven't seemed to have any impact in what happens in game.
