I wish trolls would be struck with a terrible migraine every time they posted a troll topic. That'd be great.
It's bad enough that everyone in here trolled in my topic....and that wa obvious but why are you also calling everyone else in here including yourself, a troll?
Sometimes I just do not understand people

I apprieciate the appology, and I do not have a problem with people not liking what I say, what i do have a problem with is if you take a look at mostly every single persons reply in this topic, it's all automatic assumption I am trolling, no actual help was given by miore than 3/4 of the people in here (Come actually gave some form of explanations) but the same cannot be said for most.Im just going to apologize for the tone of my first post in this thread. I am sorry OP - apparently you took insult to how I phrased my post, and you have my apologies. I hope you figure this thing out that is vexing you so much.
I have said I do not understand these screens, why i do not know...I just simply do not get them...as I said even reading the manual 13 times and some parts at least 5 or 6 times...It still has not sunk in.

Hey, beyondconfused, right now you're definitely up on me. My copy has yet to arrive in the mail (it was held in the warehouse under the label 'being processed' for five days, and after 3 calls to customer service, at 8 pm CST it was shipped, not to my local postal center a mere three states south, but went by way of Kentucky, and I have no idea where it is now, because the bloody postal service tracking page is down (they say temporarily, but after 10 hours of temporarily down, I'm no longer sure)).
Frankly, I'm a tad peeved about the rather stupid shipping procedures for the retailer I went through. At least you can play the game... But that's my problem. Your is using the tactics screen. Try reading the manual, reading the various threads here and other places Dragon Age, and reading some of the explanations here in this thread. They're remarkably good explanations. I learned a couple of things myself.
It's possible that this is just not to your tastes, however, you know. Everyone has their own tastes in gaming, just as in cooking and everything else. What I might like, you wouldn't necessarily, and vice versa. This is not the fault of Bioware; it's not anyone's fault. Give it a chance, take the elements you like, ignore the ones you don't, as others have said, there may come a time when it's not so irritating to you, and you'll appreciate it for what it happens to be there to do.
My thoughts, and again, my apologies for being rude. I'll attempt to think before typing from here on.

Those of you casting the word 'troll' around or deciding it might be fun to insult the OP may want to look at your own behavior. The OP is obviously frustrated, so instead of heaping insults on him, why not try to help him out so he can enjoy the game like the rest of us?
Perhaps we've read his other threads...like the one where he complained how stupid it is you have to login to get your DLC...
We do know a troll when we see one.

You select Self then for example under 25 percent health then on the next page you'll select use heal potion. Can you guess what might happen when you get under 25 percent health? Or you know you select enemy then something like Highest health then once again on the next page you select the ability you'd like your character to automaticly use on that enemy,
HOW HARD CAN IT BE? Yea it's daunting at first, I was like "wtf?" when I first saw it all but after 5 minutes of playing about it should be freakin' obvious.

let me try again.
Ok, as for the creature health thing on the tactics menu.. You see the different options, correct? the >100,75,50,25? to that means if the creature's health is less than 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% there are also options for <75, <50, <25 which means greater than that much health. In the column to the right, you have a list of actions you can take, when creature's health meets which of that status you pick you can have yourself or a companion take when not being controlled directly by you, the player. If you select the option to Attack, which will use a normal attack on a creature meeting that status then the character you are not controlling at that time, will use that command and attack the creature. Or, think of it more simply as a way of making this statement: If Genlock's health is at less than 50 percent, then attack that Genlock, or reverse it. If Genlock's health is greater than 50 percent attack that Genlock. If it is a mage character and you want to cast a spell at a creature meeting your selected status, then in the right column you would select use skill (or whatever its called) and select the spell you'd want to cast at it. An example of what it would mean: If Ogre's health is less than 50 percent, then cast lightning at Ogre, or if Ogre's health is greater than 50 percent, then cast arcane missile at Ogre.
I'm not going to sit here all night, typing out long explinations of every option, because, well, I just can't remember them all off the top of my head. I will do what I can though.
So, lets say the character who's tactics you are setting up, is Alistair In the left column there is an option for SELF, which will target Alistair himself. Under SELF, you will have options like HEALTH, etc.. So lets say you select SELF and then HEALTH, you have all those greater and less than options. Lets say you select the LESS than 50 percent option, in the actions column, to the right of what you just selected, you can select to use the strongest, or weakest health poultices you have. lets say you select to use the strongest ones you currently have. It would be like this: If Alistair's health is LESS than 50 percent then Alistair will use one dose of the strongest health poultices, to heal himself.
If you need more help, just ask something specific and I'll see what I can do about explaining it. I don't want this post of mine to go on forever, which if very well likely could.

Posts and threads don't exist in a vacuum. You are a troll because you post and act like one whenever you post. Then try to play vicitim when called on it. I've been on forums for close to 10 years...you aren't even a remotely good troll.

It is not relevant how many people understand then.
I don't understand them and and the insensitive bastards in this thread don't get that and think that just because they understand them or that hundreds of thousands of people understand them then so should I...
Things do not work like that and thats the point.

Beyondconfused if you want to get a constructive reply there's better ways of doing it than replying to insults and making such an angry original post. Now let's stop the pointless arguements and prove that you aren't a troll.
People have explained what they mean. They don't need to be all broken down as they're in english and they make sense if you look at them. The first page is what you want your character to target and the second page is what ability/action you want them to do.

So, lets say the character who's tactics you are setting up,
The only options available in the tactics menu are defensive and healing.
Where are all the attack options in the tactic menu....You speak of spells and stuff...I don't see any of that in there. Why?

I think I have totally wasted money on this dumb game. This game is boring. There is way too much gabbing, not enough playing, and on top of that hardly any of the stuff you can do is explained. I read the usuer manual to this game at least 13 times over and over even triple read certain parts...
I still cannot grasp more than 3/4's of this game
yah, i hate games with story. story needs to die.
