Is this even possible? It's weird to have a PC game without a text chat option.

I just use the Origin chat room. It's a little bit more cumbersome than pressing T but it's better than nothing.

For those of us who have to keep Origin's ingame overlay disabled, a lack of text chat is a serious problem.
If I enable the overlay, the game becomes extremely unplayable.

I mean Battlefield 4 has text chat in this same engine. I tried using the console commands from battlefield to send text and those didn't work. I don't understand why it wouldn't have text chat.

I disabled the overlay too and I still use Origin text chat. Messages still pop up at the bottom right. I play in windowed mode so I can just move the mouse over to the Origin chat window and start typing. It's cumbersome though.
