IN DAO when we met the desire demons in redcliff and Honleath, I always wondered why a male desire demon was  not added? The female one was very beautiful I thought, but I would prefer to have ogled a male one.

I find it unlikely that they were removed due to complaints, let alone that they were retconned from existence. Just like with blood magic, the fact that they aren't present in this entry of the series, doesn't mean they've ceased to exist. As for the "censorship" argument; Developers have the freedom to incorporate or ignore fan feedback however they please. The idea that critics are restricting their creative freedom and being "oppressive" is ridiculous

The reason why there may be no desire demons is possibly explained by Solas

If you take Solas to Adamant, he mentions that Fear may be the oldest of all emotions, except possibly Desire. This may indicate that Fear and Desire may not be compatible, since all demons that appear in DAI are under the Nightmare's control.

This may also be explained in game. It's mentioned that Fade rifts are forcing creatures through from the Fade.

Solas also mentions that expectations shape the spirits that you meet. Since being 'forced' through is not typically something demons need to be to reach the 'real' world, it's possible that the rifts are sucking up spirits and spitting out demons.

Or, alternatively, the Nightmare has so completely dominated them that they lack enough personality to even so much as taunt the party.

According to the loading screen cards, sloth demons were given a new name.  They are in the game with that new name.

 

Do you mean the despair demons...? Because, IIRC, those were thought to be a variety of sloth, but are actually a different kind of demon altogether.

What are you even talking about?  You think that the game was the highest selling one in the series because of the presence of desire demons?  Or are you just taking two unrelated aspects of the game and trying to insinuate a connection between them?

Which has nothing to do with the fact that it came out five years ago and can be bought for south of five bucks. It is a great game, though, and If you miss the boob demons that much, I would encourage you to replay it. I have no strong feelings about them either way. But I do think it's cute that you think the feminists stole them.
