My first thought was "Some Orlesian lady is going to run away from me and leave a shoe."
Also, when fighting takes place, you have the option to get back into your armor anyways. It doesn't have to be the full gown with the long corset bodice & ruffle, but something a little more elegant. And subtle.
Especially as a female mage. But I agree with what someone said before, Josie and Leliana would have never worn military uniform. They might not go full Orlesian, but they'd at least wear something a little more flattering and softer. I can see Josie in a silk pants/over dress combo, and Leliana in a tunic.
.... dammit, now I want to design everyone's Orlesian party outfits.

The Quizzie wearing it alone is...fine, I guess? Then your advisors (No Effing Way Leliana's gonna wear that to an Orlesian ball) and companions (Vivienne!!! Where's your dress?!) show up in the exact same outfit, and suddenly they all look like some washed up Russian Czar inspired acapella group
. Fail.

I thought the trousers were really nice.
I don't think a dress would have suited my character at all.

Do. Want.
The least BW could've done is to let us pick the colour. Why the hell we're not able...

I thought the formal attire was overrated due to the fact that it looked so generic.
I would have loved to have seen something more in line with the style and aesthetics of the Inquisition, like the Sturdy Battlemage Armor. Cassandra was right on the mark when she criticized the formal attire.
Furthermore, why is it that Leliana and Vivienne are wearing those uniforms to the ball? As Orlesians, I would have expected them to wear something more, Orlesian.

Because they where there representing the Inquisition, not themselves. And as the dress uniform of the Inquisition, it's just that a uniform. The Inquisition is a flux-military organisation, an army without a state as it where. You don't expect a to see a lieutenant colonel turn up to a formal event in a dress. No she wears the same dress uniform as everyone else, just with more shines on it.

The style was okay but the colors were horrendous. x( I'm the farthest thing from a fashionista but eugh. It was cool to have the schematics afterwards to make better versions for light armor though.

I didnt mind my quizzie wearing it , although while many like it on their Qunari..mine looked like a girafe
she had a long neck..or at least the outfit made her look like she had a long neck .
And all your companions were in a flashing red and yellow ?? yeah...you don't stand out at all . I just wish we could change the color , and have my companions and advisor wear different colors at least .

I liked the outfit and I think it's based on the 18th British red coat (officer version) hence the colours and sort of makes sense seeing as how inquisition is based out of ferelden which is based on the UK.
Also you are actually given an Mask with the outfit but you don't wear it.

considering how many NPC they re-used in there...I think they can forgive that all my group are wearing different colors

I don't really feel it fits with the rest of the world. I mean, it's basically Napoleonic.
Yeah this is what bugged me. It felt so far removed from any of the influences we've seen in the southern half of the continent, or really anywhere in Thedas at all.
I honestly feel like the pajamas would've fit the occasion better, where the formal attire almost seems more fitting to wear at Skyhold. Like a commander wearing his dress blues.

My only comfort in wearing it was that Leliana and Josie were wearing it, too.
My two rules for Bioware - don't let companions have better hair than me, and don't let them wear prettier outfits than me. I think they met those requirements.

I liked it. I wish there could have been more personalized touches though - something that would be unique to each character (for instance, Cullen having chevrons or those stripey badge things like actual military people get).
The boots did not match the outfit though.
It would have been better to use a dark chocolate rather than the relaxed khaki. Black would have been fine too but I think, in this case, maybe a something a little shiny and polished like metal greaves. They can even be a little ornamental.
It is Orlais and they do have a thing for shoes after all. Just none of that add ribbons and emeralds garbage.
I think the people who wanted to dress up just wanted a chance to be a bit more feminine. The poofy Orlesian dresses aren't my thing. I don't think it's very practical either both from an RP perspective and the fact that there would be mad clipping everywhere. I can understand why they'd want it though.

Maybe it has something to do with my strong military ties, but I'm a sucker for the relatively simple dress uniform and I think it's a perfect contrast to the exaggerated orlesian dress sense.
EDIT: I just wish it came with hats.

I'm disappointed I couldn't get Cassandra in a dress.
You can still dance with her

I would like that the companions and advisors have used other outfits, or at least leliana, josephine and vivienne. But i like the outfit for the inquisitor but is kinda weird that everyone use the same uniform.
