If nobody knows if the apparent increased base stats resulting from promotion actually makes one lick of difference - is respec the ONLY reason to promote?

If rogue, cunning goes +1
If mage, willpower goes +1
If warrior, constitution goes +1
Cunning increases crit chance by .5%
Willpower increases attack by .5%
I *think* constitution increases health by 5, but dont quote me on that.
Edit: Assuming stats work the same way, this should answer any and all stat related questions:

Imagine promoting 100 warriors.
Imagine promoting 100 warriors.
Imagine promoting 200 rogues. If no cap, then guaranteed crit hits on every character, with every weapon with every attack.

True and melee defence by .5
Dude imagine promoting 100 rogues. Crits for days.

Oh, we know it makes a difference. We know it makes a sizable difference over the long term. What we're not 100% certain on is whether stats have the exact same ratios as they do in single player, though it seems a bit unlikely that they'd change given how few things were altered that should've been (cough cough focus on weapons).
imo Cunning is the best stat to go for out of the three.
Sure extra health is nice but nothing compared to chance for major damage on all your attacks and abilities as well as .5 ranged defence (suck it archers).

Promoting a mage gives you +1 Willpower, which is 0.5% Magic Defence and 0.5% Attack
Promoting a rogue gives you +1 Cunning, which is 0.5% Ranged Defence and 0.5% Critical chance.
Promoting a warrior gives you +1 Constitution, which is 0.5% Melee Defence and 5 Hitpoints.

Agreed. There are so many on-crit abilities for all classes in this game that crit has effects far beyond the damage increase--which definitely isn't bad. The class that synergizes with crits the most may well be Legionnaire, who can get literal permainvincibility with a high enough crit chance. In fact, I think the almost mandatory nature of crit builds in a roles is a bit...overapplied in this game, especially since neither predecessor really moved at all in that direction. But that's a discussion for another time.
I'd like to go Katari with 100% crit then whirlwind everywhere, stacking 15% weakness ^^
