Ok, I've successfully installed ME2, set up my save files thru the configuration utility, but when I try to create a character, I get stuck at the loading screen. I'm running with an AMD Athlon 64 3400+, a NVidia GeForce 8600 GT, 1.5 GB ram, Win XP Home Service Pack 3. Everything up to the loading screen runs smoothly, so I don't think it's a hardware fault.
I've also looked around the site, and my ME2 installed fully, the folder is 11.4 GB (no DLC), so that isn't the problem. Anyone have any clue what I might have to do to get this dammed thing running?

I found a thread that may help you. My brother had the same problem. And it seems to be related to loading the game while playing an HD movie loading screen.

There's an unofficial fix somewhere in that 3 page thread, which basically replaces your loading screens with empty loading screen files. It worked for my brother at least. But even with it though, other CGI movies in the game (although most are in-game events and not CGI movies), may cause your game to lag after they're played. If that happens simply save and exit back to main menu and load again.
There seems to be something funky going on with how the videos are being played, causing some problems with certain systems. Hopefully there's a real fix coming soon from BioWare.

I have found no fix for this and loading the most current version of the NVIDIA driver actually made it worse. I rolled back to the original version and can get the initial cinema screens, but can't create a new character. Many of the fixes are for installing this through steam, but I bought it from the store.
