Why do we even look at them, as they have no point in the game, and can not be adjusted, my character is pigeon-holed, and if they are a mage they can never be anything else anyway. "Sten had it right"

They seem to be only a discouragement when looking at stat's and only waste space.

I guess the Items that supposedly add to them, as in ring's and armor could be a valid reason for them, but they seem redundant as the only adjustment to them is with enchanted or crafted Items.

But I guess that is reason enough, I do dislike the character pigeon-holing though, I sometime find it fun to try an make a totally odd ball character, with stat's in all the wrong way's just for fun, and that is not possible here.

Good question, in all honesty i don't even look at them since i can't do anything to them except you get items now and again that are said to be once time usable amulets for specific characters and there is a main quest where you are in the fade like in origins that allow you to upgrade certain skill points for your main character but they are preset as in they give no choice in which points are upgraded.

I may look from now on though after reading a post saying that rings etc don't work.
