And is the best the inquisition can do with access to 3 quarries and 3 logging stands to erect a small wooden fence in the courtyard?!
Honestly it is the area of the game that has the least effort put in to it by a mile.

It definitely does seem like they probably scheduled the Skyhold improvements for the very last part of production and likely cut it out or greatly reduced them due to time constraints.

I remember a number of the gameplay streams they did had the guy who was directly in charge of doing skyhold playing the game.
And yes I wanted a place for all the dragon skulls to go... have some hanging in the main chamber or maybe just in a gallery

Don't know how I would feel about a skyhold dlc. Whilst I would welcome the improvements, it would be a poor show to have it as paid dlc.

if they do an expansion I would expect Skyhold upgrades to be included. Hech currently where do all the soldiers sleep??? you have what 4 towers that are not repaired...Plus the area below your bedroom isn't fixed.

There's also that odd thing about how empty Skyhold feels. There's barely any soldiers around there (or anywhere in Thedas).

? I've noticed a ton of soldiers in most regions...especially the hinterlands...and there seems to be a fair amount in skyhold, but it is said most are camped outside (which makes sense...you don't keep a large amount of soldiers in the keep inside your castle.)

I still want to know what the underground library and Painting room is for (next to the kitchen and cellar.
You can get that painting replaced by treasury entrance, but its just a room with safe like doors filled with gold you cant pickup(not exactly sure when does it unlock but my theory is it has something to do with perks regarding merchant prices, cuz that was when it upgraded for me
Yea. I killed all 10 dragons. Where are my heads?
There are none even if you do the wartable mission that implies you have put one up for display
There's also that odd thing about how empty Skyhold feels. There's barely any soldiers around there (or anywhere in Thedas).
I wud say you have some troubles with NPC loading(cud be if you play on lower settings game reduces amount of NPCs-guessing here) than cuz my Skhold is full of people solders inclduing(inquistion solders, mages, grey wardens and all other allies i have.
Said every castle that ever fell to opposing forces. Break the cycle!!!
It wud be highly impractical to have the bulk of your forces camped inside Skyhold(not to mention imposibile due to space limitations, also keeping food stocks inside for a large force to withsteand a prolonged siege wud be imposbile-not that there is even a way of properly sieging Skyhold due to its position and singular easely defendable aproach), majority of them are deployed on the field, and there is probably a large encampment below the mountain close enough to move in if the castle wud be threatened but generaly camping outside. If you actualy look at Skyholds design you dont rly need many people to defend it for indefinite time period(as long as the food stocks last and you are not attacked by flying creatures that carry people on them)
And yes Skhold is far from fully repaired at the end, hopefully they will add some tuchups to it plus some new upgrade options in the DLCs/expansions not as main part of it ofcourse just as some added bonus)

I think everyone's overlooking how much time passes between reaching Skyhold and the end of the game.
When you start Josephine's romance, she mentions how you've only known each other for a few months (including the time spent at Haven). The game encompasses, what, nine months? A year?
If I recall correctly, there's also more than one note laying around in Skyhold written by the overseer, implicating that either they have no idea what structure they're dealing with, or things will likely collapse if alterations are made. It's mentioned on several occasions that Skyhold itself is basically ruins built upon ruins.
Renovating a structure such as Skyhold would be a huge undertaking, costing lots of money sorely needed elsewhere, bringing on headaches in logistics, requiring thorough research with barely any source material. Simply put, it would take a long time.
The main hall gets renovated. I'd say that isn't unreasonable at all.

Pretty annoying, it's true. I remember in a stream they were like 'you'll see Skyhold upgrade as you progress!' and while it's true that certain areas do get upgraded from requisitions, they used the walls before the war room as an example which as we know doesn't get upgraded. At least the Throne room can be fancy.
