Sadly, I guess we'll see if patches and especially (given that this is EA..) DLC and story expansions change this situation.

DAI is really 'just' over several months, and it seems to just set up the Inquisition as a powerful world force, so maybe future major plot expansions could involve the full renovation of the place? Kinda lame to have to wait for that, but its still possible.

I think everyone's overlooking how much time passes between reaching Skyhold and the end of the game.

When you start Josephine's romance, she mentions how you've only known each other for a few months (including the time spent at Haven). The game encompasses, what, nine months? A year?

If I recall correctly, there's also more than one note laying around in Skyhold written by the overseer, implicating that either they have no idea what structure they're dealing with, or things will likely collapse if alterations are made. It's mentioned on several occasions that Skyhold itself is basically ruins build upon ruins.

Renovating a structure such as Skyhold would be a huge undertaking, costing lots of money sorely needed elsewhere, bringing on headaches in logistics, requiring thorough research with barely any source material. Simply put, it would take a long time.

The main hall gets renovated. I'd say that isn't unreasonable at all.

and yet they can put up statues from whatever you pick...

as for money, from the time past the Val mission everyone reports that you are pretty much the center of trade between Ferelden and Orli and your stocks are overfollowing.

In all seriousness this is one of the few things that bothered me. I was pumped about getting my own freaking castle only to find it was in shambles.

You mean to tell me I organized a movement to shape the world but can't find a damn stone mason? Seriously what this game needs is more dwarfs!!!

Yeah, good thing you didn't wonder all over Thedas looking for quarries or anything...

And is the best the inquisition can do with access to 3 quarries and 3 logging stands to erect a small wooden fence in the courtyard?!

Honestly it is the area of the game that has the least effort put in to it by a mile.

I can beat that.

having the "loot" and jump button being the same one.

Holy crap! demon! demon, run! (goto jump) oh lookie what is this shiny thing here- DEAD.

Good one design game guy. good one.

I still want to know what the underground library and Painting room is for (next to the kitchen and cellar.

DLC characters, the Dwarven designs give me the impression they had a Dwarven companion at some point who was going to be down there. Or maybe just a mage because of the library. They wouldn't have built an empty space that well just to hide a few books in it.

I know you're only there for a few months but they could've dusted the damn library at the very least.

Well there's a gaping hole in a wall leading to your master bedroom...seems like a minor security issue there. And poor Cullen, my LI, has a tree growing through the hole in his bedroom roof... These seem more important than fixing up the courtyard for better potted plants.

I think you find that note when you go into the waterfall part of the prison

Can't be fully repaired, never gets attacked and upgrades are completely worthless. Sums up Skyhold pretty much.

Honestly think Neverwinter Nights 2 got the Castle thing done right. You collected resources to repair and upgrade the castle as well as improve the training and equipment of your soldiers.
Why on earth doesn't the Inquisition soldiers upgrade their weapons and armour after I complete the requisitions that are about equipping them.

i still cant find where the dragon heads are mounted, not in my quarters thats for sure.

If you have the deluxe edition, you can have one as your throne. It's sick as hell.

Oh yeah and it semms my assumption that treasury unlocks after having certain connections perks semms to be true cuz in this playtrough i got it unlocked way sonner than in first one and got it imediatly after getting 15% price reduction for buying/price increase for selling perk eventhough my main story is at relativly low stage(havent done winter palace or adamant fortress jet)

I have noticed a unmanned (and unusable) ingredient stall in the shops area I think that was there after I took all three forts.

would have been nice if in the guide book (or in game) it could have told us what perks unlock upgrades in Skyhold. Does a fully invested Forces tree fix skyhold?

I wanna know whats the deal with the wine/whiskey fetish? Is Ogren coming in a future dlc or what?

ot. i don't understand if i pay for a hospital, why are soldiers still being treated outside with empty beds?

Yeah, I was wondering about those whisky bottles too. I am always thinking, Why am I collecting these Whisky bottles again? throughout my play-through.

maybe it's those requisition things you have to do at camp that upgrade the keep?

can't be... I've done so many that the only ones coming up are mineral ones and some areas just don't ask for any more quests... I think they are just for power and Influence. heck weapon and armour ones don't upgrade your guys/gals.

yup Skyhold is a disaster : we only get to upgrade Garden, Tower and courtyard which leave us with A LOT of unexploited logs and quarries in the game...

Also where are the dragon heads ? We should have been able to choose one from the decoration table on the undercroft to put above the throne ! There's so much space !

The tower between the inquisitor chamber and main hall never gets repaired inside (at least I don't remember it getting repaired) and some scaffolding stays forever...

Another thing I was wondering... When we become Inquisitor, Lelliana give us a sword that looks nice but... WHERE IS IT ? nowhere to be found ! At least we could get the design ? no ?

Yet another thing that bugs me : why the hell can't we change outfit in skyhold ? The inquisitor pyjamas are aweful and I would happily wear something else (like the outfit we get for the Bal in Orlais, or some long nice mantle that would fit the Inquisitor status with some choice in patterns ?!)

Also, where is the barber ? Don't people need a haircut or shave sometimes ? Stuck for 100h+ with same face kinda get boring...

What about Mabaris ? Dogs ? I thought, maybe we could have at least one in Skyhold ? After all Skyhold is part of Ferelden... Why do bandits have Mabaris, and not the inquisitor ? nothing justify that lorewise... And Mabari dog was kind of a specificity of the DA series...

Well I guess we'll see some of that in a future overpriced DLC...
