Animation canceling isn't exactly intended...

And yet it was one of the first things I automatically did when I tried to break free from being stuck in a place. The first thing most players probably discover is jump cancel and then maybe tapping shift.

It's just like MEMP where everbody started talking about medigel reload cancel and I had no idea what they were talking about, until I found out it was the same thing I was already doing with sprint and abilities.

sigh. i'll never understand this need people have to min/max things. is this actually fun for anyone? those cut animations look crappy as hell, so no thank you i'll enjoy my reaver swinging her maul around and destroying enemies while looking awesome, cause it's actually fun to do. go figure.

What are you, some sort of dirty casual?

In all seriousness though, this is for people who want to maximise deepz. I dont even use animation cancelling that much.

I'll have you know I feel at least 20% more manly when i smack a bunch of mobs over the face while animation cancelling.

I tried the same with my Legionnaire yesterday and it works really well. Chopping down enemies is quite satisfying. And if you have a sword like the Caliban with base damage close to dps, then you can get quite a dps increase from animation canceling.

feels satisfying chopping down enemies with the same attack anim over and over? i dunno man, it that's what floats your boat then i guess i shouldn't judge.  -_-

i for one appreciate the work BW folks did on adding different animations for each swing so that they flow together when holding your attk button. especially love the legionnaire's turn and shield swipe as the end of the combo. just chopping down with that first anim? eh... not judging thou. guess i just don't understand this thing.

but to each his own. great find nonetheless.

It is personal preference really. If it was pvp I would say it was a hack / cheating but since it is pve I don't see the problem.

Two-handers deal way too little basic attack damage anyway. If I can two-shot mobs with basic dagger attacks on threatening, I should be able to crush a skull with one hit from a massive maul.

This is just player-made balancing :D

cough nerf daggers cough

If I remember correctly, the Caliban's attack chain is just two strikes. And it feels satisfying because it actually requires skill and timing to pull off consistently. If I miss the timing of either the left mouse button or shift then my character either doesn't hit at all or too slow. I feel like it adds a bit of challenge to the boring holding LMB and rotating abilities that you get when using the auto attack chains. And the dps increase is rather nice.

I don't approve of using macros for this however.
