If you just started, and Keeper or Legionnaire don't feel very fun to you, wait till you unlock Necromancer or Katari. One of the starting moves of the Katari is a death train trample that is so unbelievably fun, I'm surprised my neighbor hasn't complained yet. You just steamroll through all the enemies until your stamina runs out, and you get guard for each enemy you trample. It's hilarious. It's so hilarious, in fact, that you can see players doing it recklessly and getting killed, because it's so much fun.
Necromancer takes a while to be fun, but once you unlock the most advanced spells in the Gravelord tree, Walking Bomb and Spirit Mark, and upgrade Walking Bomb, the class is a freaking room sweeper. You cast Walking Bomb on one dude in a mob from far away, and then you walk away. Walking Bomb does damage over time, so it will kill bottom tier enemies on its own, but if you have an archer or other mage who speeds things up, all the better. Then, the enemy explodes, infecting everybody around him with Walking Bomb, too. Basically you hear a couple of loud SPLOTCH noises, the screen shakes from the explosions, and gone is the mob. It's worth it for the look on the face of your warrior teammates alone, when they arrive there and everything around them blows up.
Spirit Mark is a little underwhelming in that the spirit it summons after the enemy you cast it on dies will not actually move around to attack anybody, unless it already has clear line of sight to an enemy close by. But if you have an Archer or Hunter in the group, and you cast Spirit Mark on that huge hulking Pride Demon surrounded by his minions, and the archer then one shots it (it's possible with high end gear on Threatening), it will actually stomp on its ex friends while you watch.
My impression is that the Legionnaire can be very powerful and rewarding if you know how to play it right, but the learning curve is steep. The Keeper does not appear to be a class anybody plays willingly. It is usually played because the team needs a mage to cast Barrier to keep the Reaver alive. And to open treasure rooms.
I think what will help most is if we get videos of every class being played well, so we can see that it is possible to carry a team with that class. To counteract the "wow this class is crap, let's move on to another one" reflex.
