For me it's a neck-and-neck between Cole (especially as more-spirit-like) and Cassandra, both of whom I love more than any previous Bioware characters. Makes me feel guilty to pick only one, but I went with Cole since Cass is a "love interest" (not mine, though) and those always get disproportionate amounts of attention as it is.

My favorite is Solas no doubt. Finally an interesting elf. Wise and powerful but at the same time clever and manipulative to some extent. I will be looking forward to see his development. I hope he will become a sort of Elven redeemer

 

My second favorite is Varric...he is simply too fun and has the best lines in the game IMO. I liked particularly him together with Cassandra.

 

My third one is Dorian...I like his humor plus it is very interesting to hear him speaking of Tevinter and know more about it.

 

Then there are pretty much everyone else  into a big MEH safe my most hated character.....

 

being Sera. She is simply the worst, I just don't like a single thing about her. Irritating at her best. I just don't bother recruiting her anymore after the first run I did. I'm sorry for her writer, but to me she is just a waste of space.

Sera is definitely my favorite. Wish she would become the new spymaster afterwards if Leliana becomes divine.

I believe Solas is just getting a lot of praise cause he is the flavor of the month. If it wasnt for his big reveal, he wouldnt be getting all this attention.

Damn, that was tough. Choosing between Cassandra and Varric.

 

In the end I went with Varric, since he has been with me since DA2.

I think I admire/respect Cassandra the most, and I think she is probably the most well done companion. But man I love Dorian's snark and personality. My femQunari's heart is forever broken by a snarky Tevinter mage.

I voted for Dorian. I like Solas and Cassandra as well. Cole is pretty great too. And I do still like Varric, but I felt he was easier to appreciate in DA2.

Varric and Dorian are probably tied honestly. But anywho, so I voted for Solas, though he wins for lore reasons really. My no 1. would have to be Cassandra, not just in terms of character (a companion that may not always approve of your decisions and yet approves of your willingness to not just stand indecisive is pretty cool, imo - the aftermath of Hushed Whispers comes to mind) but because she's also really useful in combat (I love her Rally ability).
