Are these pure evil choices and how would you react?

Okay well those of us who have done the main quest where Hawke comes in, you will know that at the end of that quest you will get a decision to either sacrifice Hawke or the current Head of the Grey: this could be Stroud, Alistair or Loghain. Luckily for me I had Stroud; I really liked him but I couldn't kill my Hawke so it was a no brainer for me.

Thing is this got me thinking. What if BioWare put in even more harsher decisions? Say all your romance options were dragged in (Mine would be Alistair, Anders and Cullen) and you had to choose which of them should die.

What if you had to choose between your romance options or your Hawke and hero, which would you choose? Kill off the romances and save your characters or kill of your characters to save your romances? And how would you react to either scenario?

To me those are one of the worst choices to make, but can you think of something worse that can happen? Also what were your option in that quest to sacrifice? As I mentioned I had a choice between my Hawke and Stroud so I was okay :).

Personally I think if I had to make any of the choices above I would probably throw down the control, turn off the game and walk off crying never to complete the game lol.

Since I couldn't possibly care less about the bad romance stories and my characters always end up single, I don't think I'd even notice.

I personally don't get what the big deal about this choice is.  I never for a second thought they were dead if I left them behind.  This is BW we're talking about here.

I would rather Morrigan and Merril Survive over The Warden and Merrill. But I wouldn't ever want to chose between my Inquisitor and Sera. So...Goodbye Hawke? Again?

Well I had stroud and let Hawke die. Mainly because the wardens really do need a leader that wasn't trying to hand the order to cory.

As far as romances, out of Leliana, Isabela and Sera/Cass(depends on my characters gender), I'd let Leliana die. She's gone over the edge imo...

I'd probably let the HoF die just as quickly as Hawke or maybe even quicker depending on how emotionless and blank they end up being.

There should be choices like...kill all the Templars and then side with the Mages because no one is left

Side with Cory and make his force something to actually fear

Murder the entire Royal Family of Orlais and run it from my Wartable through Leliana

I separate myself from previous plays for the most part... Who my Warden and Hawke romanced shouldn't influence my Inquisitor's choice.

I still think that Bethany or Carver should have taken precedence over any of the other Warden possibilities.  That would have given me pause.  I spent hours working at keeping as much of Hawke's family alive as I could.

I would absolutely love it if they had included a third choice at this part- "right, both of you stay behind... Just make sure I escape!" and then it just cuts straight to your character running towards the portal with them in the foreground watching you.

Epic!

There should have been an option to kill Corypheus and claim the power of the Black City for yourself.

It was no brainier for me to let Loghain live while Hawk dies in the fade as he is a very good general who can rebuild the wardens back while annoying the Orlesian empire.

The first attempt, I had Ali as warden, and had to go "what would my Inquisitor do?" She'd disagreed with Hawke earlier, agreed that the Wardens needed a leader, and had received a letter from the Hero of Ferelden expressedly telling her that she [the Warden] "was not going to lose Alistair to your Inquisition" so, Hawke (who had romanced Anders and agreed with him, so the Inquisitor already was suspicious of her, even if I understood) it was.

Then... Varric. Holy.... no. Okay, I reloaded. Cheating, I know.

Blubbered a bit over poor Ali, as you do, then Blackwall (who had beenin the Fade with them) did his... thing. My Inquisitor went up in flames. I so wanted to yell at him, "You ran out and let the man who saved Thedas from the framming Blight die? You [SWEARING] waste of space!!!"

Yes, she was romancing Blackwall. Until then.

So, yeah. In hindsight, she would have asked Blackwall to make the sacrifice.

Having said that, the Nightmare was left as a loose end. Methinks we'll "most likely" see Hawke/Warden again, in some way.

I had no trouble losing Loghain in a different playthrough. My Inquisitor was a bit sad though. She told the Wardens where they could go.

There are many places in the game where a third option would have been nice.

But, those options would have had two very serious issues.  First, and most importantly, Bioware had to have the game end in a way that can be continued with into the next game in the franchise.

Leading from that, many of those third choice options would probably have resulted in a premature conclusion to the game's narrative.  Something that was not merely optional, like the Dark Ritual was, but genuinely non-canonical, like a Dark Side Force user Revan, in KOTOR.  That kind of thing would create even more nerdrage than the lack of the third option has.

After completing the Josephine romance i can safely say she'd be an absolute goner. I could never kill Morrigan, that voice.

If it meant me surviving and maybe gaining untold power then I would kill them off all the companions for each game.  Then again I am not as attached to the companions as others.

Luckily it was Stroud or Hawke for me I mean everyone knows how that ended.  "Hope you don't have arachnophobia Stroud! Good luck!"

Yeah I always kill Loghain, and having Alistair as king only really sounded like a good idea to me with Anora there to help him out. I kind of wonder how this will effect things in the future though.

Senselessly murdering the entire Orlesian noble court is not a bad thing...it's a blessing to the rest of Thedas. And Would not affect the story as Leliana would run all their operations from my War Table. kappa

Well this doesn't affect you at all then lol.

I personally don't get what the big deal about this choice is.  I never for a second thought they were dead if I left them behind.  This is BW we're talking about here.

So you reckon they're not really dead? That would be nice  :).

That does make things easier. But some us can't help being attached

Dragging in all 3 romance options from earlier games would be a bit too meta.

It would stop being a story about the Inquisitor and start being the players story.

I kinda wouldn't want that. It's nice to have the Inquisitor as the wall between me and the game.

It's also why it's weird the Inquisitor would let Morrigan drink the cool aid at the well of sorrows.

The player does know her and can even trust her from DAO but the Inquisitor just met her and she acts pretty damn suspicious even out right lying with key elven translation during what pride hath wrought.

And as others have stated. Hawke or Stroud or Alistair or Loghain (the man) Mac Tir ain't dead until we see the whole mangled corpse.

Now that would be a horrible choice, sacrifice Hawke or one of her siblings. Even though I'd hate that I think I'd still keep my Hawke alive.

I would absolutely love it if they had included a third choice at this part- "right, both of you stay behind... Just make sure I escape!" and then it just cuts straight to your character running towards the portal with them in the foreground watching you.

Lol I imagined a similar scenario but it didn't quite sound as comedic or nasty as yours, that would be so bad lol. I don't think I could do it :crying:

There should have been an option to kill Corypheus and claim the power of the Black City for yourself.

But if your Inquisitor did that, wouldn't it change him / her into a Darkspawn as well? He / she would just take his place if the Inquisitor tried to get into the city.

Good run through's and I can see how you can get upset. I saw videos of Varric getting upset, it didn't look nice at all. With me my characters would think and feel alot like I would and would be a little selfish, hence why I couldn't get rid of Hawke. I see your reasoning ans where you're coming from and I don't blame you.

I dunno. It's not so weird when considering that it's probably cursed. I'm not exactly afraid of commitment, but magical commitment is a whole different kettle of fish.
