No, because despite your desire otherwise, it's pretty clear that the industry doesn't see patching as a choice.

They'll tell you the big issues that should hopefully be resolved, but I don't think there's any interest in exhaustive detailing outside competitive systems (obviously, multiplayer balance and such will always be detailed).

Well then, no patching for me.

BioWare has a history of "fixing" things in a way that makes them worse.  And since they've explicitly mentioned "exploits" as something Patch 2 will address, I'm worried it will happen again.

Some of those exploits might be features I enjoy.

If the game were more easily moddable, I could happily patch knowing the option existed to undo any unwanted changes later (like the spell nerfs in DAO patch 1.02).  But until better modding tools are available, I'm not going to install a patch unless I know what it does.

They are going to patch graphical issues for PC but not PS3 and XBOX360. Are they seriously leaving all texture pop-in's and textures not loading to old gen..

For all we know (I don't know and haven't tried to find out), most of this stuff could be in hardcode.

Which would make it mostly impervious to any simple modding. And also largely inscrutable.

Good luck, I guess.

They said that the change to make lieutenants unshatterable in DAO patch 1.03 was hardcoded, but some mod I had installed undid it, because I kept shattering lieutenants (as I preferred).

Too often, patches are made to change how players play the game.  Except we don't all like to play the same way.  If they patch Inquisition to eliminate the tactic of attacking from extreme range with staves, I will enjoy the game much less.

While I agree with the general sentiment that they should tell us in advance exactly what a patch does, opposition to getting rid of exploits doesn't make any sense. They are not features any more than missing board pieces or multiples of the same card in Monopoly are features.

READ IT.

It seems I'll have to wait for Patch 3 to decide if I buy the game.

It seems I'll have to wait for Patch 3 to decide if I buy the game.

If this is about banter—much like the 'fixes and workarounds', and the general brouhaha sorrounding everything up until Bioware said something official, you might be overestimating what banter will add to your game, by a lot.

Again, it was always working fine (for the most part), it's just that hundreds of thousands people playing the game added new perspective. So there you go!

Thanks, although I'm going to wait until I hit a crash/freeze before I update, had enough trouble getting the game working as it is upon release.

"As massive as Dragon Age:  Inquisition already is, there were some things the team wanted to get in at launch, but we just ran out of time.  We'll be creating these new features and content and adding them into your game over time because we love our DAI players.  Multiplayer will also be receiving regular content updates."

AKA a BS excuse to sell overpriced DLC.

Maker, those updates better not come with price tags.

People who type bad posts like this:

1. You don't seem to understand how consumer-centric businesses work/contemporary videogame business models.

2. If your opinion is one step removed from a bad meme ("Overpriced DLC" and "DLC"), maybe find a better way to type something less flip and with some sort of purpose.

3. Real people work for real amount of hours patching and adding to complicated products. Don't disparage them from a place of infantile keyboard-warrior consumer champion BS.

Thx

Your point 1, I don't think EA's business model is contemporary at all, but archaic.

The old publisher > developer model used by EA is also anything but consumer centric.

You can disagree all you want... this is the way of things with many gaming publishers; release an unfinished game to get profit, and promise DLC to its "important customers" to make them feel good, while making even more money because they know the customers will pay for it.

DLC is ALWAYS a rip off.
