Newest update seems to have fixed our warrior detonators. My basic combo actually works now, also it is being reported that it works on shatter too. So check out the 2 handed detonators to confirm it. But yes basic combo works now.

Blessed blades is still terrible. I really wish horn of valour, blessed blades were sustainable.

Nope alistair in the comics took lyrium writen by the head writer. To use templar abilities you need lyrium. No ifs or but.

Yup, I don't know why some people think you don't need lyrium to be a Templar. When Cullen stopped taking lyrium he stopped being a Templar. He no longer has the power to dispel magic and is not specialized in fighting mages and demons anymore.

And yet... Cassandra clearly has the powers of Templar (and then some) WITHOUT taking Lyrium AND states that such a thing IS possible (through the vigil she endured).

Cassandra is a Seeker. Seekers have similar powers to Templars but you are right about them not taking lyrium. They don't have to take lyrium but it would be a spoiler to tell you why that is. They also can't be possessed but the reason for that is also a spoiler and the same reason they don't have to take lyrium.

As mentioned above Cassandra is a Seeker thus she has a very different skillset than Templars. As Cassandra herself states the Templar's powers come from lyrium and are specifically "tailored" to hunt mages. Seekers fill a very different purpose and she gets the Templar spec only for gameplay purposes same as Iron Bull with his reaver spec in which, when asked, he specifically replies that he isn't one but merely uses a similar style.

I just wish that the SP templar specialisation got the passive the MP templar has.

it would have made templar abilities so much stronger against enemy mages, red Templars and other magical creatures.

Hope to see it in a patch

It definitely would've made templars more effective against those enemies, but I think templars need abilities that aren't as conditional such as that. It would make them even more viable.

i have a champion and he's very powerful but honestly a bit boring because he's all about auto attacks. I'm playing him as a tank even if i'm 2H.

The damage is good because you can craft everything in the offensive way (strenght ad attack) because his abilities are enough to tank but all i can do is go around with full guard, invunerability, taunt an enemy to the death....my build doesn't include any combo. I didn't take any point in the 2H tree because that tree is based on critical strikes and i didn't want another character based on critics (i have just finished the game as a tempest). 2H tree is better for Reaver

Templar's tree is not really attractive but the chance to set a combo alone,is very very interesting!

I have a 2H champion.  I agonized over the decision for a long time.  But I am so happy I went champion.  It is so much fun.  AoE taunt + invulnerability + whirlwind.  So much fun and damage.

I really think Templar has a lot going for it, but there are some issues I didn't like.  I didn't like that many of the abilities won't help outside of demons.

Bioware did such an awesome job of the animations for templar skills- they look epic.

I wanted to post an update.  I had a post earlier (#58) giving my feedback on the champion.  Recently I've gone through the game as a templar.  I was very hesitant, considering how much I liked the 2H champion, but the templar is an absolute blast.  Quick overview:

2H Champion:  Juggernaut (you cannot die), and whirlwind fanatic.  Let a mage group mobs up, and then you mow them down with whirlwind.  Dragon, use to the death and whirlwind until you see big numbers (the damage% increases due to to the death as well as whirlwind upgrade).  It's fun, and seeing something like a giant or dragon just makes you grin because you know you are made for killing big beasties.   Downside?  Whirlwind feels repetitive after 10 levels, and dragons will constantly get out of range of your 'to the death' skill.  It can be frustrating.

2H Templar:  The damage...the damage is insane!  Wrath of Heaven + spell purge. I saw people talk about it...but I thought "nah...I played an assassin".  A templar is to groups, what an assassin is to a single target.  You just wipe them out.  I easily watch whole packs die due to taking 10k each.  Imagine 5+ enemies all packed around you and then *poof* 10k each and they all disappear into smoke.  You watch someone fly up over your head from the damage.  Downside?  Well, I die...a lot.  But my group gets a big boost, and I generally take Vivienne specs KE, with only spirit blade, barrier, and revive active.  She pops me back up instantly and game continues.  It's very flash and fun too.  I picked up earthshaking strike for fun.  Templars were made for killing groups and demons, which makes up 90% of the game.  Only downside is the undead, giants, and dragons.  Undead should be easy, but the det combo doesn't work.  Personally, anything named "wrath of heaven" should do extra damage against the undead.  Dragons are easy too, given you can block their attacks, and they are too dumb not to stand in the fire of earthshaking strike(+).  It's giants that tend to kill me 2+ times.  Their leaps and throwing rocks...ugh.   I am currently sinking my last couple of points into the SnS tree to pick up some defense passives.  Other than that, it is just awesome.  Oh, and get rid of blessed blades off your bars.  It's a waste.
