Have the dragons lived up to your expectations? I haven't yet played Inquisition, so I want to know how they move and look.

It's definitely one of the major highlights of this game.

Sort of...I have to mute the game whenever I fight them though.  I still cringe whenever I hear them screaming x.x

Shrug, mixed thoughts on this. The loot and after effects of killing the first dragon, along with party comments were pretty cool. But the game's janky and clunky combat makes the actual fight equal parts frustration and patience. Frustration because the combat sucks, patience because if you just stick it out and Guard/Barrier while controlling your mages DPS, you'll eventually bring down the dragon. I've only taken out the Hinterlands, Crestwood, and Western Approach dragons do far, but these haven't had any real backstory or weight to them. I kill them because I want phat loot.

These are the best dragons I have seen, in the way that they move, the sound effects especially, they just feel so threatening when you encounter them for the first time...the way they should be. In Skyrim, the Dragons were so easy to kill and I didn't feel any more threatened than I would killing a bear.

They are pretty good. No Black Dragon Kalameet or Slumbering Dragon Sinh, but tough nonetheless.

Hinterlands dragon is actually one of the harder ones. It`s annoying when it flies around and bombs your stupid companions with fireballs that burn them to crisp. What is kind of funny is that dragons seem to be quite weak in close combat even in nightmare mode as long as you stack enough armor.

Skyrims Dragons are like the bears in DA:I. Annoying at first and hard to kill but then boring and easy.

Dragons in DA:I are always a fun challenge and they drop good stuff when they die.

The dragons are great fun, but if you are anything like me you'll feel this nasty pang of guilt of every time you cripple a dragon's limb and watch her fall on her side, her head whipping about as she screams in agony and tries desperately to get back on her feet, whilst her little dragonlings watch on in horror, fighting vainly against you as they try to protect their mother in her dying throes... :crying:

Yeah, my Dalish isn't going to be a dragon hunter.

My only complaint is you run to slow in combat and it just makes fighting the dragon frustrating.

The Dragons are very well done, great animation. I probably would rank it as the best dragons I have fought against on PC.

The only down side is.... the companion AI is too dumb.... they would stand right in front of the dragon's breath, they cant dodge projectiles that are slower than snails....  :(

I wish I could just sit and watch them. They look awesome and so detailed.  They are also really fun to fight, but since I've taken Knight Enchanter they have become a bit easy.

How easy is it with Knight Enchanter? Just curious. Will take Vivienne then. She is one

I tried watching that dragon in the Hinterlands. I saw it flying around and thought, "Ooo... pretty!".... And then it flew by and rained fire down on my party. I ran like crazy out of there with my armor enflamed

Easy enough that you could fight a dragon solo on hard and never take a single point of damage if you're careful.

The dragons are really well done in DAI. For the first time ever in a game, I'm seeing dragons as the magnificent beasts of the legend they should be. In some cases, just watching one - or hearing the flapping wings and seeing its shadow move across the landscape - makes you shiver.

I see I'm also not the only one who regrets killing one, just because it's there and I want its skin for my armor. Most of the time, they aren't even any danger to nearby humans except that they eat the livestock.

Isn't the Hinterlands dragon only level 12?

I think the pain with that one is the dragonlings running around.

Now, I found the dragon on the Storm Coast maybe halfway through my game.  Went into tactical mode and saw it was level 19...and ran the hell away!

That depends on the dragon. Some have stunning attacks. It's not good to get stunned and have your barriers run out without being able to do anything about it.

People really need to stop spoiling the dragon fights by describing them in such detail.

At any rate, these are easily the best dragons in the franchise, by far; they actually feel like dragons in a way they never have before.  In Skyrim the dragons are pathetic, in the previous DA games you've had some good dragon fights, but when you stack them up against these they will feel empty and unfulfilling by comparison.

I never had that problem. Use fade step liberally.

I'm level 17 and have killed three dragons, while getting destroyed by another.  The fights have been tough, and come down to the wire every time.  No potions left, reviving companions, ect.  Very tough but realistic battle.  My best success has been a two warrior/two mage party.  My character is a 2-H warrior.

Don't most (all?) of the dragons attack you on sight?
