The dragons are really well done in DAI. For the first time ever in a game, I'm seeing dragons as the magnificent beasts of the legend they should be. In some cases, just watching one - or hearing the flapping wings and seeing its shadow move across the landscape - makes you shiver.

I see I'm also not the only one who regrets killing one, just because it's there and I want its skin for my armor. Most of the time, they aren't even any danger to nearby humans except that they eat the livestock.

Personally I only killed a couple because role playing wise I really didn't want to be going round exterminating such magnificent beasts.

Well, the first fights were entertaining but after a few dragons they became boring quite fast.

Every dragon encounter that i have found was basically the same. A different damage type, sometimes a few adds and thats it.

There are just to many of them so it is no real highlight anymore.

It's a shame the dragons don't level up with you. I didn't go hunting for Dragons until around Level 18, which meant all the ones that were lower level weren't as threatening. Going back and hunting a Level 13 Frostback as a Level 21 isn't really as fun as if they just kept getting stronger and stronger.

Just means that fighting them at appropriate levels becomes imperative, I suppose. Still, would've been a cool feature.

raise the difficulty accordingly and enjoy beating the challenge. I for example went to Frostback at level 15 and noticed it was not epic at all so I did it on nightmare. I struggled a lot but it was fun.

This.

I'd like to commend the animators and sound guys... well, everyone at BW. I've never seen Dragons done so well before this game. The way they move, the way they sound. Everything combines to form this epic experience when you fight one. Honestly, I won't spoil it because when you see one for the first time it's really incredible.

And each dragon is different, from the fight itself, to where you fight them. I haven't even seen a High Dragon yet, but my body is ready!

I'm pretty sure all the dragons you fight are High Dragons, no?  Least that's how I understand it.

Definitey. Dragons in Skyrim are too easy after a point. Actually the whole game is too easy after level 25 or so. The dragon here, the one in Lady Shanaya's valley, I fought it at level 14, on hard. And it was tough. Even with two warriors, myself an archer and Solas.

I liked them a lot when I first saw them but I was disappointed when I found out how many of the dragons share attack patterns almost entirely. I was hoping each one would have its own share of gimmicks. I would have preferred less dragons but more unique encounters for them.

The dragons are great fun, but if you are anything like me you'll feel this nasty pang of guilt of every time you cripple a dragon's limb and watch her fall on her side, her head whipping about as she screams in agony and tries desperately to get back on her feet, whilst her little dragonlings watch on in horror, fighting vainly against you as they try to protect their mother in her dying throes... :crying:

Yeah, my Dalish isn't going to be a dragon hunter.

Im glad Im not the only one who felt slightly guilty. If there was a backstory of those dragons torching a village or carrying off children to eat that would be a different story, but they are pretty much just in the wilderness minding their own business and eating other animals.

After killing six of them the Inquisitor started to look like Saxton Hale:

This.

And thanks to some of the OP combinations that can be put together, they aren't particularly hard either.

The dragon combat has been one of the high points of the game for me, despite the control issues on PC, which is really saying a lot.  I definitely have to give Bioware credit here.  They have done a great job capturing the majestic presence of these beautiful creatures.  This is the best they've been done IMO.

They are pretty good. No Black Dragon Kalameet or Slumbering Dragon Sinh, but tough nonetheless.

F*ck Sinh. Mixing toxic gas in his fire breath. Who does that? Still my favourite dragon fight was the Red Dragon in Dragon's Dogma, now that was epic @_@

And to answer the OP. They are better. They have tells for their attacks so if you pay attention you can prepare for them. Visually if you injure one of their legs it bleeds and they react to that. Much better than in the previous games.

Now, are they the best? Are they without problems? The answer to both of those is no, but as I said, much better.

The Dragon Fights are incredibly rewarding.

I was Level 20 on hard Difficulty, when I approached the Dragon at the Storm Coast. She was Level 19. My Party was dumb. Within five Minutes, they were dead (because I didn't figure out what these Electricity Rings did until it was far too late). I, the Champion Warrior, was the only one left alive. There were no Healing or Regeneration Potions left. It was one on one, no turning back.

It lasted two Hours.

I won. Barely.

I danced. Badly.

I despised that dragon.

And I never did find out what those rings were until just now. They managed to kill me and Cass after the dragon had already gone down.
