My male Inquisitor...made him look exactly how I want AND I get to shape his personality. ![]()
(Sadly, though, cannot romance self.)
But honestly, in a fantasy setting, not much is going to top being Alistair's queen.

While I wouldn't really call it my ideal, something I think might be interesting is an LI who already has a kid from a previous relationship that ended for reasons that are utterly irrelevant.
As far as I know, Thane's the only one who fits this description and I'm thinking a younger kid, around ten-ish. So something where the LI is their primary care-giver and stepping into the position of surrogate parental figure is part of the relationship dynamic.
Would be a story we haven't experienced yet, and I'm always looking for new and different.

would you still want the whole "i am going to die very shortly" aspect that thane had
but that is an intriguing idea.

Nah, that would be an aspect of Thane's relationship I'd excise from this idea.
But yea, I've noticed that a fair number of people have wanted features like being able to have kids or adopt kids with their LI; I don't see actually having a kid as happening outside of special cases like Morrigan, so this seems like a good compromise to me.
Also, single parent is a character motivation we haven't really had in a companion before. Has some story telling potential.

Winning over the kid could be fun too. Not like Thane's, but more like, actually having them around and having to coexist.
Here's a few personal suggestions:
Elven Rogue Female who'd essentially be a mix between Isabella and Leliana. (Self-confident; Loves life; Risk-taker; Empathetic; Kind; and a romantic at heart)
Elf-blooded Redhead Female whose passive-aggressive; passionate; hot-blooded; Self-sufficient; Adventurous and has a dark past, but doesn't let it weigh her down. (Having a companion whose not weighed down by an angsty past would be refreshing)
Dwarven Female who lives her life by insane troll logic and appears idiotic, but is actually insanely intelligent, crafty, manipulative, and has a sense of honor.
Tal-Vashoth Female Mage whose conflicted about loyalty to the Qun or trying to attain relative freedom as a Tal-Vashoth.

I'd hate to see a Qunari who was actually a Sarebbas once and is conflicted about the Qun.
It'd be nasty. They'd have the tongue cut out and mouth all stitched up.
If they're born like the Qunari Inquisitor though, it's different.
Uhh... Leliana in Inquisition. >.>
I'd hoped for some gruff, manly-men as a change from the more hesitant pretty boys of past games and we got Iron Bull and Blackwall so I'm happy ![]()
I'm not too keen on dwarven males but I'd love to have the option for the dwarf lovers!
Anyway, my ideal LI would be ripped, dorky and handsome. A strong moral compass, rarely judgmental, open minded about new experiences and not stuck in his own ways. At least, willingly to try new things to see if he likes it. With me. (Looking at you, Iron Bull.) I don't really mind the race between elf, human or qunari... As long as he's available to guys, if he's ripped, dorky and handsome, I'll take it!
I agree with the sentiment that we need the Knight in Shining Armor type. Someone not straight.
.....As far as I know, Thane's the only one who fits this description ......
Oh, Fiend, how soon we forget......
Never forget. Never. Forget.
But, yeah, he's not exactly a dependent, either.
That would work for me too. Ah Kaidan... he was damn near perfect.Pre-Normandy Kaidan Alenko gets sucked into a inter-dimensional wormhole and ends up in Thedas as a mage.

Mmmmm. Kaidan. <swoons>
That man is FIIIIIIIINE.

Oh, yes please.
Well... we already had a few great:
Morrigan, Jaheira (BG2) ... they are my favourites
Exciting and complex characters with a feminine attitude but not too girly or overly sensitive like Merril or Aerie (BG2). Isabela or Leliana were ok as well. The two for straight males (Cassandra and Josephine) in Inquisition are really not my type.
The one, the only and true: Viconia DeVir:

And yes, i am aware Morrigan is a Viconia of sorts, but i would take a Dark Elven mistress like her anyday over any of the DA LIs.
More Kaiden in Thedas stuff, 'cause why not.

All Wrex fans need to look at the "N7 Day on Tuchanka" piece, for real.
About the very Bad Boy love interest thing, I'd say, "Where do I sign up?"
But I might find it tedious if the guy disapproved of anything even vaguely altruistic, just because he wants you to be destructive.
Seriously, sometimes it seemed like a Warden who wanted to garner approval with Morrigan had to do so by acting in a way contrary to their goals.
Looking at you, Redcliff quest.
If that's not a factor, I am so in.
Thedas-Miranda's looking pretty good, gotta say.
SigrunScout HardingCute and adorable bisexual female dwarf rogue.
VarricStraight male dwarf rogue with a knack of telling tall tales.
I really thought there would be an option to flirt with Varric again, just once.
I get why he's not romance-able...but Lady Hawke got a flirt.
It's just so unfair. ::dramatic sigh::
LOL, yeah, I think Bioware ought to seriously consider a dwarven LI next game, or be prepared for the ire of the Dwarf fans.
