I don't care for race gating per se either. I just hate bad design and aesthetics. Which this game has. Almost all males look whack. Humans just potentially whack. Elf males look great, but then their bodies look like they came from a POW camp.

 

It could be that I'm just straight and attracted to females though. lol. I don't have a problem romancing Harding or a potential fem Qunari... but they also look so much better. Just like human females are so much easier to make look good. It's like they got two different teams to design the genders.

Could be my tastes are different, but I honestly found males the easiest to make. My human took maybe 15 minutes of actual change, the rest was just fidgeting with **** I ended up resetting.

 

Female elf I tried making took forever and she still didn't come out how I wanted her, so I started over:

Sigh, chicks are hard, for me. Maybe because it's my chick and I'm a guy designing someone for me to enjoy. I'm too lazy for that, lol. Would rather surf what's already available, like you when you said you don't want to make your ideal LI.

 

As for female qunari, haven't seen one I'd legitimately romance. Horns... can't get past that for males or females. Maybe a hornless one.

I just hate the race gating. For me I love differences between people. I love seeing people who are not of the same race or culture coming together and falling in love. To look beyond the pointy ears,horns or short stature and see an amazing person who is worth falling for. I think this is why the Garrus/Shepard pairing was my absolute favorite.

 

Oh same here for sure. I really never romance two of the same race together, unless it's like DA2 where I'm stuck being a human to romance another human. I just find it so much more interesting that way, and in my head I imagine so much learning and discovery going on while loving someone so much different than yourself.

My Mass Effect fanatics friends made a female just to romance Garrus, because he's bro! They always let him win in the shooting cans scene. But yea I know what you mean. I see the character's personality first, before I even think about the race thing, because they could turn out to be a real ahole or worse!

Do you think the game delivers on that well? I find it just as interesting being "mundane" and mage despite race (i hate the word mundane btw). Or religion in general.

 

Nah, this game sadly didn't, imo. But that's just where my imagination comes in, I suppose. lol. I did find it slightly more interesting being a human mage on my first file as opposed to a rogue dwarf because of more special dialogue options, but that's about all.

I separate myself from reality easily with this stuff, which is why in super heated debates on here I never get offended because like... it's all fake, no biggie! xD

Well... you do have one in DA:I but let's just say that he's not as funny as you might want. A loyal one, loving & caring, a tad bit too serious.

For the record, I'm just as enthusiastic about what we have. I couldn't have been happier with Cullen. I wouldn't change anything...that is, unless there was an opportunity for more. 

 

And during my male play throughs, I delight in being able to choose between Dorian and Cassandra, since I adore them both so completely. 

 

 

 

I wish I had made my OP more clear about this being about hoping for the next game, and not changing this one.
