I could go for a female qunari who was something of a middle ground between Sten and Bull, myself.
That's a good way to describe it, actually haha.

A male dwarf that I can romance while playing as a dwarf. Don't care if he's straight, gay, or bisexual/pansexual. And I'd love to see a dwarf companion in the game who grew up underground and doesn't decide that the surface is the best place ever as soon as they get there, so combining that with a dwarf love interest would appeal to me greatly. (I played my dwarf noble Warden as missing Orzammar terribly despite its flaws, and I'd love to see any dwarf in the game that felt the same way.)
Ah, there's the female Qunari I expected.
I love the idea of an introverted female Tal Vashoth. Not shy, exactly, but a little vulnerable underneath a stoic facade. Somewhere between Sten and Bull is an interesting idea. Both of them are intensely powerful and badass, and both of them have a tender side, complete with insecurities.

I was actually thinking how, romance or not, male or female, our next qunari companion should be Tal Vashoth from the start. Would be a perspective we haven't seen yet.
I'm always surprised by who I like as an LI in these Dragon Age games. Apparently I gravitate mostly towards male characters that have some emotional vulnerability, but that still have a charming or dark sense of humor (Alistair, Fenris, Dorian).
However, I think my ideal LI would actually be considered a primary antagonist in the narrative. Either you or he could be convinced to change allegiance, depending on how you were roleplaying. The more complicated their relationship could make the primary conflict, the better.
He would be romanceable by any race and gender. His own race and class could be anything. Would prefer that the Qun not be involved.

Not just that, but very anti-Qun, and content in the "role" of a Tal-Vashoth, I think.
A female Qunari. Cause reasons.
One who's Tal-Vashoth from the start probably, seeing as a female Qunari would pretty much need to be if they were fighting. And with no sympathies for the Qun whatsoever to set them apart from IB and Sten.
They should have a love triangle in the game makes it more worthy.
for a few laughs, varric in drag...
but in all seriousness, leliana was probably my ideal LI, maybe a little less creepy/clingy (according to origins, she was just lonely in DAI). Gotta love the Redheads...
merrill was my close 2nd, but the sheer naivety bumps her down to #2
So I have this irrational thing for Tevinter. I wanted (pre-DA:I): A smart, cultured, positively portrayed male tevinter magister open to m/m who - while he might or might not criticise some issues his homeland has - is still at his core pro-Tevinter. Preferably darkhaired. Anti qunari.
Not 100% but all things considered, I feel pretty catered to.
I all but had a heart attack at the announcement. Getting my tevene mage companion wish was the last thing I had expected, much less that they'd actually make him a romance.

^that sounds really interesting! Would probably be kind of difficult to pull off, but if they could it would make for an amazing dynamic.
Honestly, my ideal love interest would just be the gay man version of Cassandra. He'd be perfect.
So, basically a grumpy and altruistic male warrior, preferably religious.

As much as I adore Merrill, naivety is definitely something I'd avoid in crafting my ideal LI.
I'd like someone who's experienced in love and sex but who doesn't treat sex as flippantly as Isabela or Zevran, and isn't as afraid of love as Morrigan was.
Well there is lot of character types I would want as romance. Someone like Dorian but for female PC's. Then qunari female warrior, Tal-vashoth qunari male or dwarf that was similar as Varric or Harding (not just similar like Oghren, no thanks for drunken dwarves making poor jokes..). But yep qunari or dwarf mostly for races cause there hasn't been enough them ![]()
Varric's Friend Bianca looks like a Hottie ![]()
I love that this has turned to dwarf love. XD
And Dwarf please! Male, female, I don't care. Though I am partial to Orgren
I'm better at literally sketching out something similar to what I hope for in the next installment...
Something I did earlier before release when some of us were discussing knights in shining armour and the probability of finding a homosexual or bisexual one.
So yeah- someone quite gallant, funny, idealistic... I know I've just described Dorian, so I'm pretty happy with him in Inquisition.
Solas.
And, actually, I really want another male or female Qunari. I was all excited about Iron Bull, and I do really like his character, but for the complete opposite reasons of why I was originally excited to have a Qunari LI. I've always liked the Qunari that is stereotyped by Sten and the Arishok and even Saarebas. Broad, square faces, white hair, wide noses, stoic expressions, defense of the Qun till the end, gruff deep voice, etc etc. Iron Bull is kind of the exact opposite of every one of those. haha He looks like Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, black hair, thin up-pointed nose with dramatically slanted nostrils, hilarious easy to get along with, puts his people before the Qun, bit different voice. Like I said, I still adore him, but I feel more like he looks like a Qunari by being big and horned, but he's not really personality wise a Qunari, probably because most people wouldn't be interested in a "real" Qunari.
Cullen's general personality is pretty much my ideal and matches my own. He's an introvert and generally serious, but does have lighter moments. I don't normally go for guys with his appearance, but I'm used to it, and the personality eclipses his looks for me. So I do suppose that I've already gotten my love interest.
That said, I typically do not go for characters like that in games. I've known Cullen was going to be a romance option and did look forward to it, but I generally like to romance characters that are outside of my zone. Dorian is the perfect example of this (I haven't completed his romance yet but I'm aiming for it in the current play). His brightness and passion attract me and I know my male 'Quis would be drawn to him for that. In real life I would probably consider him too loud, and I'm sure he would think I was quite boring.
I think it's really fun to explore paths that you wouldn't take in real life with characters in a game. Not necessarily even the hetero/homosexual options, but in simply choosing a personality that is opposite of the one you usually go for in a romantic partner.
Female qunari Tal-Vashoth either bi, pan or homosexual. And probably a warrior but I'd accept any class, not seen many non-warrior Qunari (read none except InQunsitors) but haven't seen any warrior ladies who love ladies.
And female Dwarves bi, pan or homosexual (I only play female characters and I prefer women sue me). Any class would be fine and really any backstory, though surfacers are little dull (Varric already did the Dwarf that's really a trope inversion Dwarf).
Someone sarcastically funny almost to a fault, rash, experienced, with a secret heart of gold who makes the first move. Extra points if they're a reformed villain.
I'm a sucker for friendly flirty relationship turned real relationship tropes. ![]()
