Well, it's kinda hard for me to design my own love interest when Morrigan already exists, and I've found at least one love interest in each of the games that I've really liked (Isabella, Cassandra, Josephine). If I were to want an existing character to be a love interest I would definitely say I want Scout Harding (that and I'm convinced they're going to release a romance for her as part of future DLC). I also wouldn't mind if we expanded on Anora's "romance" arc. Since it's pretty much non-existent, but it would be nice to have at some point in the past gotten an expanded look at our Warden and her's relationship. That's never going to happen, but it would have been a nice Origins DLC.

I would love to see some kind of DLC in the future with Celene as an LI. Sure she sometimes has a canon love interest, but so do characters like Iron Bull, Dorian, Josephine, Blackwall. I dunno, I have a thing for powerful women apparently, but I really would love to see a possible romance between the Inquisitor and one of his most powerful allies.

And as far as my own invented LI. Hurm...

I think a female templar might be fun, though Cassandra does kinda fill that role. But imagine the story you could get out of it with helping your love interest overcome her lyrium addiction...

Wait...

Ah, bugger.

How about a former Qunari Tamassarand? Imagine it, tall and intimidating physically, added on top of the fact that her entire previous life's devotion was wrangling a bunch of rowdy Qunari children. So kinda like a sexy scary horned teacher lady.

Honestly, the most unique thing Bioware could do is have a love interest that is just a random farmgirl or barmaid. Nothing special about her, just a regular girl with a regular job. Compared to all the other love interests having something "interesting" about them maybe the lack of any interesting characteristics would be interesting in and of itself.

A Tamassran? That would be one hell of a character. I wonder how they'd explain them.

The way I'm imagining it is that something happens to her that has her question her faith in the Qun. Like maybe something really bad happens to the children she is caring for. Or she grows extra attached to wards only to have them be sent off into a battle or something that gets them killed. Basically something happens because of the Qun that hurts her and causes her to become Tal Vashoth, which is how we could explain her leaving the Qun, and would add a pretty decent story arc between her trying to find herself post abandonment of her faith and retaliation from the Qunari. Maybe have her be a new Tamassran, still young enough to be naive about life under the Qun. Something along those lines.

Replace Dorian with a straight female Tevinter.
Replace Dorian's weaknesses which are ethical and moral codes with a more dark and machiavellian personality.
Replace Dorian's ideology from Tevinter rebel/reformist to loyalist + elitist.

There! The cunning and powerful Tevinter Magistrix worthy of standing by my side as I use the mark to enter the Black City and seize the power of the gods.

I'm pretty happy with Cullen and Blackwall. Especially Cullen is the perfect romance for me - I love his character - but if I could decide on one character, it would be a charming dwarf like Thorin Oakenshield or Kili. It's too bad DAI didn't include dwarven romance.

My perfect LI:

Human male ( warrior or rogue), black hair and blue eyes, with muscular body and sexy scars. Mix of Canderous Ordo/Bishop and Dixon brothers personality...Someone tought enough to care about himself, who don't need psychoterapist, without dead wife/exgirlfriend/kids problems.

Every time I think this thread has reached the end of it's life, it's revived. I'm going to embrace it. lol.

Hmmm why not exclusively? And why not possessed? I mean you get a two for one love interest special right there.

By the way: I love how you had to add the edit for precaution.

The idea of "designing an LI" has been deemed dubious and creepy/presumptuous and entitled on occasion. Basically, my thread title was taken literally, when all I was actually going for was a thread to discuss what we hope to see in the future in a general sense. I didn't mean for it to be something objectionable, but I clearly didn't explain myself well.

::shrug:: That or some people are just really sick of threads about LI's. Either way, I'm too much of a people pleaser (doormat) for it not to bother me and get me backpedaling and stipulating.  :lol:

Qunari female or Viddathari to complement one of my male Qunari. Dat Qun lovin'. Perhaps bi. Perhaps an agent like Gatt. Oh by Andraste please no personal quest in which her choice could make her a Tal-Vashoth. She would be perfectly comfortable in the Qun, perhaps more mellow like Gatt but just as hardass as Sten.

I'm hoping for the opposite. I want a Tal-Vashoth Mage who wouldn't get near the Qun.  :P

I wonder if they'd give us one of each?

I just want someone who's hot and pretty to begin with.

Then I'll get to know them throughout the course of the game.

A calm, disciplined male human warrior with a dry sense of humor. He should be pansexual, and prefer people who don't solve every problem with violence.

Sigrun. Seriously. I adored her.

Edit: Or Maevaris Tilani. I don't believe I forgot her!

An Avvar Shaman who's clan was unfortunately caught in the path of Corypheus' army as it marched on Haven and was all but wiped out. Since Shamans are skilled summoners of spirits, s/he'd most likely be trained as a Necromancer.

A former Dragon Cultist from the Dragonbone Wastes, who deals with the homicidal urges brought on by prolonged consumption of Dragon Blood by working as a freelance mercenary (cutting people in twain is their version of anger management therapy). Naturally would be trained as a Reaver.

A Tal-Vashoth Grey Warden, as it's been rumoured that some have undergone the Joining in the last few decades. In addition to their struggle over doubts that they've exchanged one life of service for another, their personal mission involves tracking down and slaying a former lover who had been taken by the Darkspawn and horrifically transformed into a Broodmother.

(Or if we want to make it extremely dark, she was a former Warden who didn't die during her Calling. A while back Gaider was asked about the possibility that female Wardens might be able to be turned into one, which he admitted he'd not considered. Welp... downer ending confirmed?)

Honestly? I'd like a Dorian-esque character for women. I adore Dorian, he's my fem Lavellan's BFF, my male Lavellan's love, and I don't want straight!Dorian, but someone with his ideals. I kind of fell in love with his character when I found out he was 'the redeemer' and that's what I want- whatever race or class, someone who sees the world as it is but strives and gives and hopes and loves it anyways and wants to make it a brighter place.

Didn't want to live her life as a sex slave to the Qun.

BRING ALISTAIR BACK AND I'LL BE HAPPY.

Really, just someone like him.

Or.....

You could date a not-former Templar (whom has light blue eyes, tan skin, and bright red hair that's wavy, and alot of freckles) and he is Bisexual. He is also in his late 20's (21 to 24), who is very, very good humored, rebelious, not shy at all, is somewhat wary of magic, doesnt mind being a Templar, is a mix between Alistair and Cullen. Also, he can be romanced by mages, like a forriben romance, but he'll get in alot of trouble later in the game if he does. Also, i do think this guy had a experience with the Templar Order (like i can image him having to slay his boss after she becomes a Red Lyrum Monster alongside his friends, whom he has to slay as well, as their corrupted) So i can image him being very wary of everyone, and closing himself out to everyone because he doesn't give his trust very easily, but he is a very honorable sort, underneath that rebelious and humours cloak. Also, i can image, he saw a whole town being terriozed by magic when he was little, also i can image him coming from Tentiver so therefore he has seen the worst in magic and in Templars, but has no desire to quit becuase his little sister is all that remains so he contues to be a Templar for her, and that his little sister is a 5 year old. Also, yeah, a whole buncha of people in this person, and i love RED-HEADS too.

Yay, great thread! I'd model someone like Marquis de Serault.

- He's a protagonist, so he's almost me already;

- Human(great for self-inserts);

- Handsome, white, blonde - I love all that.

- No gravelly voice, no extra testosterone, nothing like Blackwall or Andronicus. Solas and Anders had great voices, so I'd stick to that.

- Knowledgeable, Cunning. Evil. The guy who could poison the Elusive Iconoclast so nobody's the wiser deserves my admiration.

- Power and intrigue. Lord Vetinari from Discworld, Professor Quirrell from HPMOR, Kimmuriel Oblodra from FR, some dark Tevinter magister = love.

- Noble and rich. The guy knows how to use a fork, read ancient philosophers, wears great clothes and hasn't slept in stables. Much.

Okay, I'm done shopping for the ideal love interest, where's the checkout?

My favourite DA romances are Alistair, Fenris and Solas. Cullen and IB romances are also very good. My favourite ME romances are Garrus, Thane and Kaidan. I would also add Steven to that list even though that playthrough is still unfinished.

I want different romances although there are some similaries how I want them to progress. I want that LI will fall in love with my PC and he wouldn't date other women/men while we are together. So the relationship would end up being the love of the life kind of romance.

Anyway here is my list:

  • Elven servant with blond hair. He is silent and polite but not shy. Probably 25 - 35. Forbidden love.
  • Human warrior with dark hair. He is confident and he is in leading position. Probably 38 - 45. Because he is older. This romance could be played with unexperienced PC or with experienced PC so the romance would be a little bit different depending on your choices.
  • Human rogue with dark hair. He is confident and teasing. Something similar like Han Solo from Star wars. He might be mercenery but anyway he would be your rival and your paths would cross once in while. Your passion to each other would bring you together.

A couple of ideas I don't think I've really seen yet in DA:

* A dwarf from Orzammar's upper Castes
* A Fog Warrior rebel from Seheron
* A pro-elf city-elf spy from Brialia's army
* A pro-Tevinter Magister elitist
* A Rivaini Wise Woman
* A proud Orlesian Chevalier

These concepts could work for general companions or NPCs too.

So, basically Viconia, without the trying-to-turn-her-good BS :) I am not sure you can do an evil playthrough in DA. And we have no evil companions either. No Edwin, no Bishop...
