Isabela's hair is brown. Darker brown than what you're getting at, I think, but definitely brown and not black.

 

Looks like the same color as Merrill's hair. Maybe it looks lighter because of her dark skin, but in the character creator I'm 99% sure it's the same as default Hawke's. If it's lighter than black it's dark grey. No reddish hue at all, not in my game. In DA:O it was red-brown.

I'm happy with all the romances we have had so far, but if I had to pick then I'd love for a Garrus type personality and friendship turning to romance arc but in the body of a tall dark and handsome human male. As much as I love Alistair and Cullen, I'm a little sick of blonde boys.

 

I'm a sucker for friends first romances, not sure how the friends first thing would really work in a single game though, only worked in ME because of the continued protag.

I don't know about all that. All I know is that I'm looking at a screen shot - admittedly not in the best lighting - and it looks distinctively brown.

 

I'm distinguishing it from the ambient lighting. If the lighting is red or orangey, everything will be tinted that color. The hair color options in the CC are limited. There is one brown color and one black color. She is closer to the black color. Sebastian is the brown color. Maybe she has a special color all her own, I dunno, but I don't think the other companions do. Maybe it's not a "true black" with blue highlights, but I think it's the closest the CC gets to black.

Otherwise not fussed about appearance... hair, skin, eyes, any combo is fine, doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous but a rugged sort of handsome would be preferable.
