A thread for the courageous, handsome, lovely Knight-Templar Barris. A character who deserved more screen time than he got. 

 

Now, for those who haven't done the Templar quests. You may be wondering 'Whose Ser Barris ?' Well, Ser Barris is a Knight-Templar of the Order. You'll first see him when you go to Val Royeuax to speak to the Chantry. He's the fine fellow standing with the Chantry mother before she gets socked in the face. He later plays a major role in the Champions of The Just quest and can become the Knight-Commander if you choose to promote him. 

 

Another interesting thing to note is that Ser Barris CAN DIE even if you side with the Templars. Some people believe he will die regardless. But he can easily be kept alive. Do not allow the great hall strength meter to fall below 30% during Champions of the Just and he'll survive. 

 

 

So yeah, if you like Ser Barris. Come on in and discuss !

Ser Barris is teh awesome.

 

Was gonna disband the order, met the badass mofo, allied with them instead cause he convinced me they could redeemed.

 

Later made him Knight Comander of the order, that was epic stuff.

Oh yeah, Barris definitely deserved to be Knight-Commander. He really is everything a Templar could aspire to be. Brave and smart. But also caring towards mages.

If you ally with the Templars as equals, does he come and hang out like Fiona does? Because if so, I might have to do that on my next PT instead of disbanding them.

Sadly no, cause unlike some people (who sell their peers off into slavery to...escape supposed slavery?) he is out in the world slaying abominations and protecting mages from pitchforked villagers (all actual war table missions of him being awesome).

 

But yeah, making him Knight-Commander was all the feels.

I'm not completely certain. I haven't seen him around. So I guess not. But I suppose he may be in the Templar tower.

You do some War table missions where you send him out to lead various missions. And eventually you'll get a quest in your journal to promote him. You just go to the throne and the scene will play.

I found out about this man, saw him, heard of his worth as a decent pixel human being, and wish I'd done the Templar mission. I just had to experience seeing Leliana's face, didn't I? Wish I'd been spoiled about cute Templar...

War table missions first, then you get a journal quest to promote him, sit on seat of judgement and done.

How do you keep him alive during the templar mission? He died in my playthrough.

Do you get the ability to promote him only if you keep the Templars alive as an order or does it matter what choices you pick on the war table?

 

I disbanded the templars, still have him as an agent for Cullen.

I'm honestly not sure. But I imagine you have to make them allies. Yes,

I think you can promote him still, as Commander of the Inqusitions Templars I think rather than the old order.

Needed much more of him in the game even if I do mostly want him around to look and drool over him shamelessly  Accidentally did the templar quest my first time around and honestly I ended up liking it a lot better than the mage one and get a bit sad knowing I can't have him as well if I go with the mages he is awesome (and I'm not just saying that because I'm oddly very attracted to him, but DAMN  )

I was actually thinking of writing a fic about Barris. Since so much is left to the imagination about him.
