For those who romanced Dorian. If Barris was a gay romance option would you choose him over Dorian?

Dorian romancer here. None of the other romances will beat him for me. 

 

 

Would I go for Barris over him ? Yes, in a heartbeat.

I care more about the mage rebellion than any other cause in fiction in my memory. Nothing is worth that.

Not being confrontational. What do you think about Fiona giving her people to Tevinter. How do you defend that ?

I don't. It was a bad decision. I also don't care, because the rebellion is about much more than Fiona. It's about standing up to tyranny and saying "no." However many strategic mistakes were made in its execution--and plenty existed, I admit--I will never abandon a just cause when I have the power to bring it to fruition.

So, if Barris was ever a romance option. You think he would be Straight, Gay, or Bi ? 

 

I'd like Barris to be bi more than anything because I want a "knightly" or "righteous" bisexual character one of these days, to break this unintentional BioWare stereotype that bisexuals are always roguish, tricksy, liars and thieves, have a dark past full of trauma and angst, etc. Just one bisexual character who is not shady as hell, please. Just one. That's all I ask.

 

But I'd be cool if he was gay too, I prefer playing female but I can always shrug it off and romance him with a male character as I did with Dorian. No biggie. The one thing I would not want, is for Barris to just be straight. I love my three Prince Charming love interests to pieces, but there's no reason only female characters should have fairy tale boyfriends. We need some of that sweetness to go around for everyone.

Fair enough. But I honestly don't think the mages are anymore just than the templars. I believe that they've both made way to many mistakes for either to be just.

The templars more than made the mistakes. Their entire order and mandate were mistakes.

 

Also, the mage rebellion contains plenty of civilians, including children, whereas the Templar Order contains none.

I kept reading how bad the cutscene was where Sera dumps the inquisitor. When I actually saw the scene for myself, it was completely different.

Well, there is still youtube for that. I watched the templar path, and I know I won't enjoy playing it.

yeah i honestly assumed it was overhyped but it did bring a reasonable templar perspective to me still pro mage but not as zealot like

And you don't think it was stupid for a couple of people to start a rebellion for a thousand mages who may or may not want to rebel ?

 

You have to realize. The mages were not forced into this. The templars were not actively trying to wipe them out or start a war. It was mages who were commiting terrorist attacks. And when the mages decided to rebel. They forced the Templars into action. Now, their are some bad eggs among the Templars who used the war to do horrible things. But at the core of it. The Templars had no choice but to fight back when the mages rebelled. 

 

That's not to say the Templars don't have issues. They were a corrupted order. The way they worked with mages needed to be changed. But that was the thing. Starting a rebellion that you know would get your people killed was not the way to go about fixing things. Fiona made a selfish decision that got mostly innocent people killed. How is that just ?

The templars had every choice. They could have stood down and let the Chantry handle negotiations instead of splitting from the Chantry.

And you think negotiations would of actually worked ? It certainly didn't do anything in Kirkwall. Not to mention the mages would of taken no less than. 'You're free.' 

 

You have to admit how dangerous it would be for mages to go completely unchecked right ? I mean, I don't agree with the circles. But I still think tempalars are needed. It's too dangerous for both the mages and the common folk for no one to watch them. 

 

Honestly the whole war was pointless. But neither side was going to stand down unless they got an unreasonable victory. Tempalrs wanted mages back under full circle control and mages wanted full freedom. 

 

At the end of the day neither side was truly just. The mages were just as bad as the templars.

.....I have no clue honestly. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he is a noble. So his surname takes precedence ? I have no idea.
