I don't blame him for that, I'm just saying that was kind of a bad plan.

Well DA2 had derp moments, but assuming that Thrask didn't kidnap anyone and didn't have blood mages, what would your opinion of him be.

He's a good man. And he did the best he could with a shitty situation.

We all love some Ser Barris but this thread puts him on a pedestal.

Not surprising considering how few good Templars there are. Ser Barris is pretty much very good and finally gives the vocal minority that is Templar supporters a chance to shine because really, they are pretty much a minority.

Shame he died for me, was playing on nightmare and I couldn't save the poor fella. Although I do remember him having weak justification for the use of red lyrium, hmmm.....

Yet apparently he is not an ideal templar to some people. I doubt Barris would do better if he was in Thrask's shoes

Can someone ask on Twitter who is the writer who wrote Ser Barris?

A good man, but a terrible Templar. Let's us not forget his daughter.

He was willing to do his job but wanted to treat mages like people and work with them to oppose demons and apparently this makes him terrible? Guess if you're not a raging mage hater, you are a terrible templar.

Thrask didn't exactly redeem the order. But he's still a good man, and a good Templar.

Look, I'm tired of arguing about this. I get your point. But this thread is for Barris. Not to argue about whose a better Templar. Or the Mage-Templar war.

He probably wouldn't kidnap the Champion of the City's brother, and he definitely wouldn't conspire with blood mages. Just a thought. It doesn't take much to fair better than Thrask.

I wholeheartedly support this thread.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who thought Ser Barris was a great character. The Templar Order is in good hands with him leading and serving as an example of what the templars should be.

It was great to see all the good work he was doing throughout Orlais and Ferelden via War table operations. And promoting him to Knight Commander was awesome and one of the better scenes you could have via the judgment subplots.

For my pro-Chantry Trevelyan playthru it ended with Vivienne as the Divine, Barris leading the templars, and Cass (romanced) rebuilding the seekers, I like to think the Chantry will be a force of good moving forward.

I tweeted to Mike Laidlaw, we'll see what happens.

The Templars are pretty much Vivienne's leashed army. I don't thing they're in good hands if she's divine.

the only thing I wish is that we could have seen ser barris doing his war table missions. Him defending mages, fighting demons and be an all around noble but badass person should have been seen in more then just the war-table missions.

perhaps in a dlc we might see more of him :D

I honestly think the best bet is Cass as Divine. I think Viv will just remake the circles exactly as they were. And that's a terrible idea.

Yeah, helping him in some of his missions would of been pretty interesting.

she remakes the circle, but gives more freedom to mages and more responsabilities too.

So, nothing except Barris compliments? I just want to be clear where we stand.

She doesn't. She gives them more freedoms and responsibilities, but they answer to her, and they accept her as a leader. People rise through the new Circle more quickly than before. There's no status quo in this game. Even the sky is permanently scarred, even when the Breach is closed. Themes and all that.

Apparently you have forgotten his daughter. Leaving virtually helpless Mages outside the Circle to be preyed upon by people/entities is the definition of a bad Templar.

He lied to everyone about his daughter, and yet was such a hypocrite he told Fenryel's mother the Circle was the only safe place for her son.

Tell me how he's a good Templar, again.

No, but I'm not going to argue about mages and templars either. That's not what this thread is for.

There's discussing Barris and then there starting an M/T argument, there's already a thread for the M/T crap
