One of the things that I wished happened is that we had more interactions with the side that we didn't chosse. For instance, imagine if fiona was more then a named boss to the templars, same thing for denam. Where they had more of a role as an antagonist.

Agreed. I was looking forward to having a talk with Fiona about why my Mage had sided with the Templars, but then I had to riddle her full of lightning bolts.

Unfortunate.

I kinda did hope that each area or atleast some had a small plot with a boss from the factions

Because while Calpernia and Samson (still random) are the leaders there really should have been more people

The series has been heavily slanted towards mages. In DAO, if you fully sided with the templars, you lost a companion and got the bad ending for the circle where mages are hated more and the circle is haunted whereas if you saved the mages, you got a good ending where everything goes back to normal, you never risked losing a companion, and you were able to get the best Redcliffe ending

In DA2, you either saved the mages and become a symbol for the rebellion or helped a lunatic commit genocide for something they didn't do. Oh, and if you side with the templars Meredith tries to kill you anyway and you later find out in Inquisition that a templar supporting Hawke was forced to leave Kirkwall since the templars started taking red lyrium and tried to kill Hawke, forcing Hawke to leave. Not to mention the various lobotomizing, rapist, and generally unlikeable templars you find throughout the game whereas the mage ending simply has crazy blood mages everywhere whereas nothing bad really happens to Hawke if they sided with the mages in DA:I

In Asunder, the mages are blatantly favored with the Templars coming off as villains. Lambert is obviously the bad guy and the problems the mages have aren't as severe as the problems with Lambert. Don't forget that Inquistion has Cole reveal that Lambert viewed mages as animals who needed to be caged, not people and that he wanted to make the Divine a Seeker puppet with Cassandra agreeing that Lambert deserved to die. In other words, Lambert was blatantly evil and the mages are blatantly favored.

This continues with the interactions and endings in Inquisition where Fiona is polite when meeting you whereas Lucius is "lol I is the best and the inquisition sux" and the templar endings are essentially "Templars return to the Order and the rest become the Inquisitor's bodyguards/ vital part of the army" while the mage endings are "Mages are free and universally accepted throughout Thedas" "Mage civil war occurs" and "Mage rebellion crushed by Vivienne". Seems like the mages get what one considers the best goal if a certain divine is chosen.

For those who romanced Dorian. If Barris was a gay romance option would you choose him over Dorian?

Without a doubt.

So...I just finished Theirinfall Redoubt. Was highly impressed with the narrative. Plus, I just loved the Envy demon, plus Cole's interactions with it and you.

So glad I went with the templars on my first run on accident, imo going into the Fade and meeting Cole was a lot more fun than that time traveling thing with the mages, both are fun I just find dealing with Envy more fun and fascinating. The first run I had I was honestly going to go with the mages but I hadn't gotten as far as Redcliff yet in The Hinterlands so I mistook meeting up with them at Redcliff to be an area you have to unlock on the war table then ended up going with the templars instead. Got to say it was cool getting the chance to fight along side Ser Barris and my paranoid mind had me racing back to the great hall every time after I picked up something important just to be safe. I also was surprised when after do many war table missions I got to promote Ser Barris it was a very welcome surprised one that might have been better if I could have been able to read the missions and reports on them. Still a good moment though imo made me definitely pay a lot more attention to the war table missions when I did the next run to side with the templars over the mages.

Also side note whenever he drinks the lyruim it looks like he's just kissing the bottle to me

I think it's that plus a combination of people wanting to play the hero. If you're a casual then you probably won't be inclined to look past the surface, all you probably know is that these people are fighting for "freedom" and in a lot of people's minds that automatically translates to "good". It was a problem that plagued Mass Effect as well and one that I think will continue especially if there are scenes like the one with Lucius which isn't really indicative of what the Templars actually are.

This was totally me when I started playing DA2. I saw innocent mages fighting for their freedom from evil templars. Thanks to....anders.......I stopped to and actually looked at things. All it takes is one bad apple before the whole batch is considered rotten. While there is obviously more than one bad apple in the order you can't neglect the good ones as well (the same can be said about mages). Barris is proof of that alone.

If Barris became a playable character they better seriously revamp this templar spec. All that demon only damage stuff was annoying; sure the stuns were nice but come on. Then that passive ultimate sacrifice!? I laughed a good five minutes when I saw that.

Disagree mate, currently running S & S Templar build and kickig all kinds of ass.

Nearly a good a tank as Blackwall (Walking Fotress though, is boss) with CC thrown in + ****** Venatori Overseers owned and barriers laughed at with dispell.

And rifts? I could solo even the later game ones that spwns multi pride demon if I wanted to.

....

But personal opinion and all that, so yeah...

The moment where he's all "I don't know if I'm worthy of this" and you can respond with a variant of "The fact that you think that means you are" made me grin like an idiot.

After watching a video of "In Hushed Whispers" on the youtubes, I don't think I'll ever not do Champions of the Just. So much better.

If Barris gets a cameo in the next game, I wonder how it should be. Perhaps him kicking down the door and punching a few tevinter blood mages in the face? Or him bossing a few templars around?

Probably leading the Templar equivalent of SEAL Team Six on a force recon strike operation and taking down forty blood mages all by themselves, saving innocent mages in the process.

Because that's a Ser Barris Monday Night.

Count me as a Barras supporter. I like the idea of him: A templar who sticks with the order and lives up to it's ideals. Unlike Cullen and Evangeline, he actually stays with the order, I admire that.

I do wish there was a sidequest after the mage/templar mission to get the remnants. Maybe Fiona took who she could from the mages and fled, and you can rescue at least some of them, and Barras was able to get some low level templars away from the red stuff. Hell, maybe they could have showed up with Dorian and Cole, talking about the fall of their people, saving who they could.

Really? If the templar order is disbanded, there's no templar anymore, how can he get promoted?

I guess as the head of the Templar forces within the Inquisition, rather than as autonomous Knight Commander?

Just assuming, I haven't done it myself.

How do you promote him after disbanding/absorbing the Order? I have the quest in my journal, but it isn't marked anywhere on the map or radar.

it won't fire for bug reasons, if you have a judgement to sit in on, it will trigger before that

TF!? Is there a workaround? Should I not do his map missions until after I've judged the Chasind Chieftain and Corrupted Knight-Commander?

. No just keep one in reserve for when you do finish his map missions, then when you judge the guy, it will trigger his promotion scene

The look on a Magister's face the first time they have to face down a real Templar instead of the tarted up thugs they're used to...
