No way. The Seekers are dead and buried, and they are beneath an individual as respectable as Barris.
I agree to be honest. The Templars can be redeemed. But the Seekers are rotten to the core. They've done nothing but make the world worse.

Well from what is said in the epilogue if you tell Cass to make the Seeker better and tell Cullen not to take Lyrium the new Templar Order becomes the new Seekers.
Their role is expanded to also protecting the people as well.
They become a better order if the right choices in DAI under Leliana or Casandra as Divine.

Anything can be rebuilt
Anything can be rebuilt
They offed themselves in such a hilarious fashion that we don't even know what's left of them to "rebuild".
I'd want a new Seeker order to resemble the old one in name only, but since I have no way of controlling the manner in which they are rebuilt I'd rather bury them.
In my playthrough most of the templars joined up with the reformed Seekers. so they kind of became one order.

That seems very bad in the long term.

why do you say that?
why do you say that?
Because the Seekers being too much an "extension" of the Templars in practice was one of the main problems it had originally.

but this is the reformed seekers, not the original.
More over a fair number of choices could back fire in the long run.
I still think they should have allowed us to meet Barris in SKyhold.
Harding is always out in the field off screen like Barris but she always return to Skyhold.
Barris should have appeared as well since even the Inquisition soldiers return to Skyhold after their own missions.

Uh huh, but reformed how? She intends to remove the secrecy surrounding their initiation, but what does she change beyond that?
If preserving the stability of the Circle system is still one of their mandates, then already we're making a misstep that's the same as before: despite the fact that both the Mages and the Templars should have a stake in the Circle's existence, the group that oversees it all is not a balanced endeavor.

I need to rewatch the epilogue to get the exact wording.
but of course the circle system can be destroyed and replaced by the college of enchanters who watch themselves without templar or chantry oversight.
I'm disappointed that I can't do anything regarding Barris by disbanding the Templar, the dialogue choice implied they'd join as Knights of the Inquisition rather than Templar and I was hoping to have the Inquisition replace the Templar Order as the Mage-Hunters of Thedas. Felt the same way when I conscripted the mages and it didn't feel like the Inquisition was arresting them, more along the lines of slapping them on the wrist.
Guess Barris doesn't want that promotion because he's using his Inquisition all-access pass to the brothels.

He must get a lot of customers, going by this thread.
So is there a difference in how Barris's side story plays out depending on whether the templars are conscripted or allied?
No, only a few dialogues will change in his promotion. So is there a difference in how Barris's side story plays out depending on whether the templars are conscripted or allied?
ah gotcha, I plan on conscripting them in this playthrough, and I didn't want to miss out on his content
Well that's good news that you can still promote him if you conscript the templars.
And yes ! there should definitely be more Barris art. I'd do it myself if I had any talent for art.
Thinking about it, I'm just past In Your Heart Shall Burn in my Nightmare playthrough (which coincidentally is the PT where I chose the Templars) and no Ser Barris missions are present on the War Table. Do they appear later?

They do actually, they trigger after getting to Skyhold if I'm not mistaken. I've only done a few of them since I'm currently playing my first playthrough where I sided with the Templars. I can't say I regret anything, far from it, I much prefer it to the first one.
Okay so I like Ser Barris and think that there is some point to the existence of a Templar Order (or something like it) in order to protect mages/protect ordinary folk from harm, but that doesn't mean I support an institution that has perpetrated institutional oppression against a group for centuries. Like, this should be a Barris loving thread, not a mage and Fiona hating thread.
SER BARRIS! WHY U NO HEART DIALOG OPTION? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I guess it is sort of inappropriate to flirt during such crisis...
Thanks to templars' awesome cutscenes plus I am a sucker for man in armor/uniform, I only save Fiona ONCE in my pro-mage playthrough(out of total of 5 so far).
Video support! Sorry for the potato quality.

Hmm. Strange. I'll check again today, maybe I just missed it. He lived, though.

That scene is part of why I love Champions Of The Just, the mission just hits all the right notes.
The sense of foreboding as you arrive at the castle's entrance and enter the courtyard.
The sudden betrayal that leaves both the inquisition and the templars reeling.
The bloody struggle across the castle in order to rally the remaining templars, while slowly realising the extent of the betrayal that has happened.
The battle in the center of the hero's mind against a terrifying opponent, forcing the inqusitor to face their own inner demons in the process.
The revelation of the monster's true face and bringing their real nature to light, making them flee. Giving the heroes the time to regroup and come up with a plan.
The urgent race to find the remaining officers and uncorrupted lyrium while knowing men and women are dying by the minute in the chantry trying to buy you the time you need.
Then the comeback, the turning of the tides, the heroes have finally gained the upper hand and are ready to bring the fight to Envy. Leading directly to the final climactic battle with the monster itself.
And then, once the dust settles, the day have been saved and the order stands redeemed and ready to fight the good fight once more.
Also, Ser Barris. ![]()
And that's why it has become my favorite Bioware mission made so far.
