Nah, Alexius parallels the Envy Demon in terms of his role (being the main enemy of their respective quests).

Denam does sort of parallel Fiona as he is the main culprit in turning over his allies to Corepheus' forces. (Though she is FAR less responsible for such action than Denam is. Still, the roles are similar enough).

To take it one step further, the closest parallel to Barris in the mage quest would be Connor, being one who questions the actions of his superiors and defies Corypheus' plans. (Well, sort of. He pretty much just kills himself to avoid posession, but it still parallels well enough in my eyes.)

I'd say Felix is close to a parallel with Connor, the only difference is that Barris actually joins the fight against them

Frankly, I do believe that's the fitting end for Fiona. :P Joking aside, I agree it was anticlimactic and both Fiona, and even Denam deserve at least a quick cutscene.

Especially him being the first Behemeth we see

Yeah, I know. It might be cool if we actually got a chance to converse with Fiona or Behemoth Denam for one last time. I hate to sound like a whiner for saying this, and DAI is great, but when people starting to talk about lost potential and what it could be, the game is a lot more shallow. :(

Imagine if Felix actually joined us if you sided with the mages. Lost potential I say.

Well, unfortunately the only cure to heal Felix is out of our reach, and his time is very limited. I was hoping there's a chance to save him though.

It could have been something like he'll spend his remaining days helping the Inquisition fight the Venatori and he becomes an agent using his knowledge to stop Venatori plots. Shame he died too early.

I'd take him over Fiona as well, and I wish I could put Rhys or someone who's reasonable in charge instead.

Unfortunately, he caught the Taint a long time ago, and Alexius's effort to delay it from killing him only buy Felix a little bit more time. It's not enough for him to live longer. It's a shame, I wish Felix could live longer, but even if we can cure Felix it means he'll become a Grey Warden. At the very least we got Alexius instead, and he can atone for what he did by helping the Inquisition.

Him and Evangeline should've had a physical appearance :(

I know...

Sadly, we're likely won't see them making a physical appearance in game at all. :(

Imagine if we had to fight Red Templar Barris.

Barris would never submit.

I would say that Fiona and Barris play the same role, as being the leader of your allied force.

A. I was talking about in their respective quests, and B. the difference between them is that no one had gotten around to drugging Barris' lyrium yet.

One earn the leadership with acts, he protect mudane people from mages and demonstra, and protect mages from mudanes without raising his sword, he fight at your side in the Arbor Wilde, he doesn't stay in Skyhold doing nothing and complaining.

Yes, both do play the same role post-In Hushed Whispers/Campions of the Just, but I was referring to their roles within the quests themselves. Both Fiona and Denam submitted to the Red Templars/Venatori, and though Denam fully joins the Red Templars whereas Fiona and the other mages aren't really members of the Venatori, they both serve the purpose of turning over their comrades.

The roles are changed up, of course, and comparing these elements as though it's a 1:1 comparison doesn't really do them justice. There is a difference in the motivations and the amount of content present for each and their intentions (the Envy Demon and Denam being more malicious than Alexius and Fiona) but the general roles are comparable.

Well, seeing as how he dies if you don't go to Therinfal, it would seem that he resists regardless, or it is decided by the Red Templars that he is too likely to resist. It was a bit more than them not getting around to it yet.

At least she does something, and i doubt she never questioned your choices.

She was dubious about my using Alexius for research, but didn't have a problem with anything else.

I couldn't get Barris's opinion on my choices, he was busy doing stuff, not sulking

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to call what Fiona does sulking. She and Barris are simply two different types of leaders.

Ser Barris is the sort that leads from the field. He is right there in the thick of it with his men and fights with them directly.

Fiona does not lead so directly. She delegates duties to her subordinates and commands things from a distance. This form of leadership may not be as inspiring or impressive as the direct sort, but it can imply a greater degree of cunning, making sure that the leader is safe.

You people should also remember that unless you make him knight-commander, Barris is just a regular templar soldier. Talking to him before he is promoted is like talking to generic Inquisition soldier #361

Fiona, the incompetence in person, is cunning?
And lets stop speaking about incompetent leadership, this thread is about a proactive and competent one, Ser Badass Barris.

Once again, this is a bit of a stretch. He is the one who leads the templars at Therinfal and the other Templar leaders readily accept him as Knight-Commander later on. This implies a certain degree of respect which in turn implies a position of some responsibility. It's true that he is not some sort of supreme commander for much of the game, but he likely had some authority in the order.

edit because a great deal of my post got eaten by the forum.
